Finally we reached Venkatagiri by 1300hrs and I need not explain what would be the temperature in AP in summer. Here came the surprise. No one knew about a water falls in Venkatagiri. We tried to converse with the little Telugu we knew and managed to get information on the route. In the mean while few had gone to get lunch for the rest of the group and we all started of to the water falls by 1400hrs. Finally reached the entry point to the forest and that is the place where the tarmarc ends.

It was in the April 2014 when we had just started our riding group and wanted to kick start with a new place. Finally some one came up with Venkatagiri and the "Rebel Riders of Chennai (RRC)" planned their first ride. We assembled near Anna Nagar west but terminus and were waiting for all those who had given RSVP in Facebook. Finally we started our ride one hour beyond schedule after a briefing on general biking hand signals and group discipline. Venkatagiri is 140km from Chennai and we went through a slightly round about yet scenic route Nagalapuram-SriKalahasthi-Venkatagiri. We had our break fast in and had innumerable unscheduled breaks as everyone started having tea,and soft drinks as soon as we stopped to check if the group was intact.
Finally we reached Venkatagiri by 1300hrs and I need not explain what would be the temperature in AP in summer. Here came the surprise. No one knew about a water falls in Venkatagiri. We tried to converse with the little Telugu we knew and managed to get information on the route. Re: Open roads,10km off-road and a private waterfalls is Venkatagiri
I thought off-road would be a some used road without the tarmarc. But this was off-road with big stones and boulders. When we had inquired about the route one told us you need a Jawa or Yamaha to go to this place.I thought to myself guess no one ever went after the 1960s. But when we entered we realized what he actually meant. It was a test for our physical and mental fitness. I was third from the pilot and we went to some distance.I could hardly ride in second gear with Mathi riding pillion with me as he could not risk bringing an Iron 883 in the dirt road. At many points we had to stop as the roads were splitting. One guy would take the road to check if the road is leading any where while the other would wait at the cross roads. Suddenly we found that we were only 6 bikes out of 30 odd bikes.
We waited for some 15 minutes then heard a bike sound. It was Prashanth, our official photographer. He said few backed out and few are following us. We stared of again and were riding the dirt road assuming we would see the water falls sometime. We rode for nearly an hour still no sign of any water falls also no sign of other riders. The mobile signal was nil and hence we could not contact them and decided to go further. Within few meters, we had to cross a water stream and that gave some motivation to go further. I crossed the stream and thud!!!.
My bike hit something hard below.I manged to balance and changed my gear only to find that my gear lever got broke. I tied it with a plastic thread and wanted to ride further but Mathi insisted on going back as it was already 1600hrs. So i turned back thinking to myself "I am coming here again" in the winter at least for the adventurous ride.
On my way back I met my other riders who were having their lunch. I explained them on my situation and proceeded to the town think to myself "I am coming again"
So finally it was last week that me and Deepak had time and went to Venkatagiri again.this time it was even more fun with water streams at so many places

Nice, [emoji41] [emoji106] I've been with a few friends to Tada's waterfall for some offroading (A quite short distance from the entrance, about 4km) now and then but I've never heard of this place though. Is this place accessible to anyone? I'm thinking of giving it a shot pretty soon with a few friends. [emoji16]

Originally posted by sansmerci View Postyes it is pretty much acessible. Only that the people of the town were not fully aware of this location. The place is called Kona Malleswara Kona I guess. The entrance is 4km from the town. Also, once you are inside you wont have mobile signal. So saty close. The hosts of the jungle(monkeys) would welcome you at the waterfalls. So take care your things and food. It takes an hour to cover the 9km off-road so be prepared physically and mentally. Try to do it before March. The Sun God would be merciless later. And do share us your adventure and photosLast edited by Arvind Sibi; 01-06-2015, 07:27 PM.
