If you saw 2 Black CBR\'s and one with Saddle bags, then yes it was us.

Total distance : 870 km


Day 1 :- 30th Dec


Route : BLR-Mandya-melukote-Shravanabelagola-CR Patna-Belur-Chikkamagalur-Gaalikere-Chikkamagalur.


Initially I had planned to go to Mandalpatti on 1st Jan and return home the same day. My friends also had planned a new year ride to WG and I decided to merge my plan with theirs. I very badly wanted to go somewhere and the place actually didn\'t matter that much. It was months together since I was out on the highways. It was that situation when you just want to ride!


We were 4 friends who confirmed for the ride with 3 bikes. 30th was the departure date and we were supposed to leave BLR by 7 am. One of my friend was to join us from Channapatna which is his home town.

By the time we left Chanpatna it was already 10:30 am. Melukote stretch was waiting for us. I enjoyed this stretch a lot. After mandya its just 2 lanes and some places single lane all the way with a decent tarmac upto CR Patna.

With a couple of breaks we reached Chikmagalur by 4 pm. My friend\'s friend(who\'s a student in Chikmagalur) joined us from Chikmagalur and told us lets not go to Mullianagiri and Bababudan hills and lets go to gaalikere. I had not been to this place and heard a lot about this place by that friend. Close to attigundi there is a Y junction (an estate route which deviates from the main road) where that friend took us in that road and about 1 km from the main road is this sopt called \"VISMAYA\" by the localites. A very lonely place (But the Road is visible from the place and no one usually stops here as its a deviation from the main road) and has a great view. If the sky is clear this is a good spot to view the sunset.






























We were in Vismaya for about half an hour and left towards BabaBudan Giri. Exactly one year ago i was in Bababudangiri and the road was under construction. After 1 whole year the road condition is still the same. Damn the Karnataka state GOVT.

There were about 5 to 6 people near gaalikere who left as soon as it was dark and we were in that sopt till around 8 pm and road back to the stay which we had taken when we entered Chikmagalur. The night ride was awesome and so was off-roading during night from gaalikere to the Bababudangiri checkpost. The road condition was pathetic for few KM before the concrete stretch while climbing up.

All of us safely reached the stay at around 930 pm and an adventurous day ended.

Day 2 :- 31st Dec

It was a lazy start on day 2 as only temple visits were planned for the day. but i was super excited for the day as i was visiting Charmadi ghats ,one of my favourite. Its a very short Ghat section but brings a big smile after you ride through those winding roads. Its one of those stretches which you never get bored off, both view and fun wise.
We started from Chikmagalur by around 10:30 AM.

It was a relaxed ride for very few miles and then the Racers in us got auto activated and we were riding like hell. We never knew when we reached the coffee shop after mudigere, again my favorite coffee shop.

We got a peaceful darshan in Dharmasthala and headed to kukke. We managed to reach Kukke by 5 PM and halted there for the night.

Day : 3
Route : Kukke-Suilya-Madikeri-Mandalpatti-Madikeri-Kushalnagar-Ilavala-Bangalore.

Suliya-Madikeri is one of the best routes in Karnataka for bikers who love twisties. We started from Kukke by around 8:30 AM. There was a small issue with the 220's rear brakes which caused a slight delay at Suilya. We found a Bajaj SVC but they gave lame reasons that the 220 mech hasn't come today and no one else knew the problem. Some one suggested a repair shop called Ideal's bike point . There a kid repaired the brakes and we were off to Mandalpatti.( we tried to fix it on our own but the piston had jammed at one position and luckily the wheel was able to rotate freely)
While we were getting the Pulsar repaired it started raining and we were all delighted, but that didnt last long as it stopped raining after 2 minutes.



Somewhere after Suilya we stopped for tender coconut and heard sound of water flowing. After asking the source from the vendor we found this stream so close to the road.


The Curves

Since it had rained a little , it was a pain taking the curves with the Stock CBR tyre "contigo" which was going all over the road. It has absolutely no wet grip.

And we had entered the Mandalpatti range.
In Madikeri town both the CBR's stopped for fuel and we got separated. The 220 rider took the main road to reach the Mandalpatti top where as me and my other friend on the 2nd CBR took the more scenic Makkandur route.

It was a clear and sunny view when we went there and the climate just turned AWESOME.






the Visibility had reduced to very few meters for about 10 minutes and then it was sunny again. But we guys were blessed to have such nice climate that day.



















I wanted to stay there till the sunset and leave by 630 or 7. But one of my friend wasn't comfortable riding in that road in the dark and hence we started from there at around 5 pm.

We guys had again split up after kushalnagar due to heavy traffic. All our phones were dead. It was pretty dramatic how we all regrouped at Hunsur.
I knew i was in the front and no one had passed me. i waited for a long time after about 30 km from kushalnagar and went back a few kilometers. Then decided to head Home assuming they (My friends) would reach home safe as they were 2 bikes and they were together. I stopped again for dinner in Hunsur. By this time i had managed to charge my phone in the dabha where i had stopped for dinner. I was trying to call my friends and they appear in front of me. Luckily there was a road hump exactly in front of the dabha and my friends saw me and stopped. From there we rode together.

From Maddur a HD rider joined us till Bangalore. We all departed from Mysore road nice junction.
