Very Happy New Year to all XBHPians
This is my first travelogue. At the time of new year eve i was thinking of doing something special. Suddenly an idea flashed why not go home? But not the usual way!

A long ride from Bengaluru to Malpe in my Pulsar 135! Yes this was my very first long ride that too solo. I was very excited finally planned the route and was all geared up.

This was the route i had planned. It was the very first time i was going to ride on these roads so was very excited! I got serviced the bike, bought some riding gears a balaclava and a pair of riding gloves packed my backpack and was all set for the ride. Woke up at 4 in the morning of 1st Jan but for my luck it was raining very heavily. This delayed my starting time. I waited till 7:30 but it was raining cats and dogs. Then i wasted no time and started the ride in heavy rain. It was heavy rain till Nelamangala and then rain eased off as i headed in Manalore-Bangalore highway but till then i was completely soaked in rain, my hands were numb. I rode on the highway in that condition till 10:30 and then stopped for a break.

Sorry for the image quality as it was captured from mobile as i had no time to take my camera out. I dried my gloves by placing them on engine changed my pair of socks and the sun was also out absorbed some heat and again i hit the road. I could'nt take any pictures on the road as i was really late so kept on riding.

Still more pictures to come once the travelogue is approved.

Re: New Year Ride to Home.

Sorry for the delayed posting. I resume my journey from where i left off. After i took a small break and getting some heat i hit the road again. It was 10:30 and sun was shining now. The buttery smooth highway made the ride joy but it was boring. I was constantly averaging triple digit speeds. At 12:30 i was in Hassan bypass and decided to have lunch once i reach Sakleshpur. At 1:15 i was in Sakleshpur and stopped to have lunch. In about 20 minutes i was done with my lunch. I resumed my journey towards the Shiradi ghat. After reaching entrance of ghat road i took a break to have tender coconut as it was hot sunny afternoon. I saw boards on road that the ghat road will be soon closed. Soon i began to descent down the ghat. Roads became rougher with lots of patch work. I many hair pin bends there was no roads. I was moving with steady pace which was time consuming. I came across some spectacular views but could not stop for taking snaps. As i almost finished the ghat section there was a huge traffic jam. A vehicle had toppled down the ghat and it was being rescued. I somehow zipped through the traffic between trucks and buses piled up! Finally i was done with the ghat section.

Now the road was smooth and curvy with perfectly cambered roads. Cornering was a bliss leaning my bike to the limit! On each corner. Ay round 3:45 i reached Uppinangadi. From there i was depending on my GPS as i was unknown with that route. I took right from Uppinangadi towards Guruvayankere. I took this route because i wanted to avoid Mangalore evening traffic. The road was narrow and rough lot of potholes to be negotiated. After riding 400kms i was really tired. At 5 i was in Guruvayankere and headed towards Karkala. The road was again full of potholes. This ride was taking a toll on me. Around 5:30 i reached Karkala amd on route towars Padubidri which will join me to NH17. This was a smooth highway road and i increase my pace here. And it no time i hit NH 17. From there after a 30 minute ride i was in Udupi! Then it was a short ride towards Malpe which i reached at exactly 6:30. The odo was reading 480kms! Iwas amazed how did i do this. And i was tired like hell. At home everybody was shocked to see me come in bike.

Well this was how my ride was.

I will leave you now with some pictures of Malpe Beach till i continue my story of ride back from home.

          More pictures to come soon.
