So as I said, Tour de Thar is our annual ride where we explore the hidden gems of The Thar Desert. This year’s edition was going to be exiting as we had two things in mind::
a) It was going to be an ‘All Camp’ ride, where we will be camping on all the days.
b) We will be taking a Service vehicle with us, mainly to carry our camping stuff.

Why camp when we have very good hotels around? And why do you need a Service vehicle to carry camping stuff which can be carried individually on the bikes?
Well Sir because we love camping, and we like it King Size.
Camping for us is not a compulsion but a choice which we enjoy thoroughly.
We prefer to carry everything with us, right from Chairs, Tables, Food, Crockery, Utensils to the Firewood. It gives us the ultimate freedom of camping wherever and whenever we want.

This is how a typical camp of ours look like

And to carry all this we rely on our beloved ‘Suzy Blue’ and her trailer

The Route:
As always the route this time was also exiting. We try to avoid the highways as much as possible and take the back roads instead. The back roads are relaxed, scenic and truly mesmerizing.

We had charted out the major outline of the route that we would be taking. Out of the four nights, we had planned the stay only for the first two nights. The rest were left open to give us the flexibility to plan as per the mood of the day.

The Route

Unfortunately, this map doesn't represent the exact route that we had taken. I am still to learn the new google maps and find it very annoying. It took me almost an hour to create the map above

The Gang:

Anukraman Singh Rathore aka ASR

The man behind Western Motorsport and JBR. He is a FIM Marshal and has officiated in the best Rallies of India including Raid de Himalaya and Desert Storm. A cheerful personality and our lifeline. Also known to get the adventure ‘Keeda’ into you.
Drives and Owns ‘Suzy Blue’

Shalini

Working with a Corporate at the top. Extreme Travel enthusiast and Birder.
A delightful personality and a warm host.
She could be found roaming in the hills solo, driving her Scorpio ‘Wilson’.

Sagar

An Ex AirForce officer, working currently with a Corporate. Adventure lover and Fitness fanatic. A lively man with some crazy dance moves. He is known to posses a magical muffler which has the ability to attract women.

Sujan

A South Indian living in Delhi and working for a major Publication.
He is as mischievous inside as calm he appears on top. Has an unending supply of Jokes which generally involve me. A warm host and a serious mixer of spirits. His mixes can lift your drinking abilities to levels unimaginable.

Rajiv and Shailaja

Fairly new to camping, they took everything in their stride with a big grin. Their Never say die attitude was exceptional. Rajeev is as calm as a cucumber and Shailaja chirpy as a bird, they both share a unique bond. They rode Rajeev’s Royal Enfield Desert Storm.

Bhavna

A Videographer by profession and our very own celebrity photographer. She has videographed some of the top motor sporting events and worked on some really amazing projects. She has captured and contributed some of the great shots that you see here.
A happy go lucky person and fun to be around with.

Jayadev aka JD

Works with Royal Enfield as an engineer. He is hooked to riding and has covered most of the North India on his bike. Loves to work on his bike and upgraded his modest Electra 350 to 535 CC. He is a lively personality and a Mallu Jat, as we fondly call him.
Rides and owns ‘Rubberneck’, a Royal Enfield Electra 535.

Bhuvan Gaur aka Karan

A Photographer by profession. Fresh out of College he has already established his name and is a sought out photographer. His amazing work is the major contributor to this log.
He has an unending supply of energy and has the ability to talk non stop for hours, even with his helmet on. Rides and owns ‘Rani’, a Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350.

Abhishek Sharma aka Arjun

A Civil Engineering student, a MBA aspirant, an avid reader and a literary enthusiast. He possesses some exceptional riding abilities and can ride his CBR on the most treacherous offroads with ease. Strictly follows the ‘Work while you work and play while you play’ formula.
Rides and owns a Silver Honda CBR 250.

Bhuvan and Abhishek are childhood friends and together they form a deadly team. Fondly known as ‘Karan-Arjun’ they are unstoppable together.

Digvijay Singh aka DeeJay

A former Corporate slave and currently unemployed, I am presently trying to follow my passions. A simple and friendly man who loves traveling and motorbikes. Also known as ‘Monitor’ for my obsessive disciplining of the riding group.
I ride and own my ‘Hari Bhains’, a Royal Enfield Classic 500.
