Re: Lachung a trip to heaven on earth.
Day 3.
Skipped day 2 as mostly it went on fixing the bike. Finally back to rule the road. Started from siliguri at around 9am for Gangtok. Roads were okish till we reached the border of West Bengal, but as soon as we entered Sikkim everything changed within mins. As if we were on some other country. Clean and wonderful roads. Majestic and blissful mountains. Crossed the so famous Coronation Bridge.
View from the bridge
It was a long time since I visited Sikkim. And it felt great to be back. Reached Gangtok by 3:30pm. First thing I had to do after reaching Gangtok was to get the permits for Lachung because I had to start early morning. Got my permits done still had to get one next day morning by 8am from the IG office. Meanwhile Anand had spoke to our very famous Manish Gurung bhaiya for the place to stay and lodging. Manish bhaiya stays at Gangtok and is a gem of a person. One thing I would like to suggest my fellow riders. Any problem at sikkim during your travel period please get in touch with him and he will always be at your service. He is a true gem of a person. Moving one I checked into the resort. It was a wonderful place to stay. Kudos Manish Da. As soon as I looked through the window pane this is what I found:-
I was like awesome Sagar, now the real journey Starts. Evening we spent time shopping at the very famous Mall road to Gangtok (side effects of being married and taking your wife for a trip) :P.
..
Mall Road
End of Day 3
Day 4.
This was one heck of a day. The most memorable part of the trip follows now. Got he permits now finally.
Permits
9am and we started for the most awaited place Lachung. As soon as we crossed Gantok the first view was this.
The majestic Kanchenjunga aka Godwin Austen aka K2 the second highest peak on the world and a very few people know that it in our very own country. This is called a Virgin peak as no one has ever tried to climb. Very rightly said. Just by a small view of K2 it felt so relaxed and that inner voice" Awesome!!!! fantastic!!!! marvelous!!!! Stunning!!! this is why I am here for... All that tiredness of N34 all those pot holes all those bad roads was worth now. Started on the roads again. Following with many breaks just to click. This is one heck of a lifetime opportunity and I was in no mood to miss this one out.
Reached Mangan by 12pm still 60 odd kms to go. I was very confident Sikkim roads we can reach in 2hrs. Took a break a very famous coffee joint. This nice gentleman came around my bike and started staring it and wanted to ask what the hell was going on but was very hesitant. Later when we were about to hit the road, I went ahead and spoke to him (this is one habit you can call it good or bad but I like to strike conversations with unknown people on road). He started with where are you from. I said kolkata. But he asked me why my bike registration was from TN and the XBHP sticker. I said becuase I was staying there and rode the bike from there and suddenly he opened his mouth the golden words he was from our very own forum XBHP. It was akash subbha from XBHP sikkim. I was like so proud of the community. Where people doesn't even have proper phone signals he was an xbhpian and that also a very famous one. This proves for being a rider or an XBHPIAN you just need to ride and enjoy it. It doesn't matter where you belong from, which caste, creed or religion. I guess this is called unity in diversity. Kudos to XBHP.
So we had a conversation for around 30 to 45mins. Told him about the entire trip and where I was heading to. He asked me if I had a hotel booked I said my friend was trying to. Then he called up his bother at Lachung who had his own resort and arranged our booking there. He said it will at least take 4hrs to reach Lachung as the roads were not good at all. So we departed bidding goodbye.
At one point I had to do offroading as there were no roads only wet clay and huge boulders aka rocks.. While entering at the Lachung check post meet with this very nice police officer Mr. Aviraj Chettri. He amazed the way I came along with wife on a bike. He said that even he loves bikes and also owns a RE 500 classic but also said he was not that much mad as I was. I just said one thing. Wandering and exploring new places are the only truth of life. These are the only memories we will cherish when we grow old not what all shopping we did, what movies we watched. This is the reality right here. He then offered tea but we refused as we were already late. So started towards our destination. Reached Lachung by 4:30pm. I must say the way we were treated by the resort staff and owners were mind blowing. We were like getting Maharaja treatment. I was like "Don't wanna go home". They wanted to arrange a campfire but we refused stating that we were very tired. As time passed it was becoming so chilly and freezing. I took out my phone to check the temperature and this is what I found out.
It was bloddy insane -6 degrees was absolutely insane. Spoke to the resort manager for the direction of Yumthang. He was kind enough to give me a map and made me nderstand the entire route. So bidding good night I went off to sleep.

Re: Lachung a trip to heaven on earth.
This was THE ultimate day of the entire trip. As soon as we crossed Lachung we were greeted by them.
These are called Yak's. Everyone know what they are but a very few know that these are among one of the extinct animals species.
Moved on for 10 to 15mins and the started the Zero point. My first time riding at snow. It was an awesome experience. All the stress and tension went off in seconds. That freshness and chillness on the air. Can't explain in words the feeling I had. It was not that this was my first time at snow but this was for obvious reason's special as it was the first time and probably the final time with my beast riding on snow.
The Waterfall is freezed
Took a few clicks. The time was 10:30am. Had to head back towards siliguri now. As it was a sudden plan trip so didn't have much time. At a point of time I never wanted to comeback from that place. But duty calls. Had to head back. So started back home with a heavy heart. Stopped at the zero point for some last pictures. I know this very moment below will never come back in my life. So wanted my beast to have the center stage.
Thanks you Beast aka black lady for taking care of me for the last 2 yrs. The way we completed 60k together in 2 yrs of riding was commendable. Helmets off to you beast. I guess it's time to move on. Had tears in my life after a long time.
There was a point when we started and as soon as the corners would come I was not able to see anything because of the fairing. It was ptch dark. Reached Sevoke by 7:25pm. Took a 10mins tea break. Started off. Finally reached home by 8:30pm.
End of day 5
Next day went off to Gorumara National Park for a small ODT. Couldn't click many pictures as photography was not allowed inside the forest.
Very next day had to start off towards Kolkata. Took a different route this time around.
Reached home with one of the best memories. Thank You to a Beast again for another wonderful and safe trip. Will miss touring on you. You kept me safe from all disasters that could have happened. Thank You XBHP for what I have learnt from the forum and will keep on learning.
