Weekend Sojourn to Tarkarli Beach..


Feb 27th:I was just getting done with work at office and wondering what am i going to be doing in the long weekend during the Holi festival . It had hardly been a month and half that i had moved out from chennai to pune , i've been hearing from a lot of friends during the Xbhp weekly g2g's about the places i could go see. So was wondering where do i head to for that weekend.


And then it was like my prayers were answered , a text arrives from a friend about a weekend ride to Devbagh/Tarkarli beach. I could instantly reply yes because i had my helmet and all my gears , but i had no ride for that weekend. Then somehow made a call to a cousin of mine to lend his Ktm Duke 200 and i got the green signal for the ride. So i went ahead and confirmed to the group .


There was this sudden excitement like a kid who knows he's going to get present soon.


March 5th: I was getting work done at office as soon as possible , so that i could proceed with getting the last minute checks before the ride begins . I got done with minimal packing and i realize i don't have a thermal liner nor a rain liner .
Note: In Pune the early mornings are COLD and i experienced it during a short trip to Mulshi dam without a liner.


So i went to the Moto101 store and got a thermal liner after the numbing experience.


Despite trying to sleeping early , the excitement of riding down all the way to Tarkarli kept me awake.


4:30 am : the alarm rang and i wished i could sleep a little more , but then the photos i saw of tarkarli made that all go away.
So now i headed towards a point where i could tag along with another Xbhpian ,Kuntal since i was still getting to know the routes here. Later had to reach the Point where the ride would start from ( landmark:Golds gym).


So people on this ride were : Kuntal , Viper , Aman , suraj ,Imran, GW ,GT and myself. ( GT was to join us the next day)




And we were off to Tarkarli and a breakfast stop in between.


Riding through that first tunnel while you exit pune somehow had a good feeling for me. ( Somehow reminded me of tron legacy ,where in the hero would ride through that tunnel during the beginning)


After a Little riding , we halted at Hotel Mahindra for some poha and bread omlette's.




Next stop : Tarkarli Beach


The Duke 200 fared well on the highway minus the bad roads and bumps .So now we were heading towards Amboli ghat which would lead to our destination.The ghat roads on Amboli Ghat were pretty fine till the end patch which is bad.









In order to get to Tarkarli , we were required to reach Malvan first. While riding further down , there was stretch would seem like no man's land .


Endless land on either side and there seemed to be no civillisation around. To my surprise I find an airport being constructed right there..:O


Somehow we crossed that patch and headed to the final stretch to our destinationby entering malvan after a little searching..


with a span of half an hour or so , we finally reached our destination.











After settling down and resting for a while , we headed for dinner which was followed by walking down to the most peaceful beach i have ever seen. So Serene and calm it was under the moon light.
Note:The beach was the only place you would get your mobile reception/signal with your internet else at the resort the signal would be faint. So Unless your a BSNL or IDEA user the previous sentence doesn't imply to you.


Most of us had Vodafone or Airtel networks or was it all of us ??


Next day started with some tea and breakfast followed by discussions on Bikes,gear and like minded stuff.


rest of the afternoon went with a little jal kreeda ( Water sports ) LOL.


By evening , the jal kreeda man(GT) had arrived on his N650 and after a lil refreshments we headed to play a litle cricket on the beach .Some amazing moments we had that evening.







This marked that the end of our sojourn was coming to end.


Next Morning , we packed and geared up for the return ride via Gaganbwada after a number of discussions on which route to take . The Options were via the same route ie. Amboli ghat , Radhanagri or Gaganbawda.
Some way the decision was finalised to take up the Gaganbawda route.


Within a few hours we reached the ghat roads of Gaganbawda and the uphill ride was magnificent. Something like Eternal bliss at that moment i felt riding the duke on those roads.








Well there were bad patches on that stretch ,but i would forget and move ahead.
We stopped on of the view points for a group picture with the bikes and also a little refreshment plus snacks. Our next halt was decided to be at Mcdonalds on the Kolhapur Highway.



So after a good meal , time to get back home . I kept taking a lot of breaks in the last stretch till i reached Khandala and the next thing i know was i did not stop till i entered pune city .





OVerall it was a memorable trip being my first long ride from pune and i would also like to thank the people who's company i enjoyed on the ride.
