  • Bangalore to mangalore via Bisle ghat - Solo ride #gopro

This ride I had done during my brother's marriage in November 2014. Have already done rides through charmadi and Kudremukh, thought I will give a try through Bisle ghat.

My friends have been warned about the road condition, however I did not care much. Also I had a love for off roads. But the thing about Bisle ghat is that its not really a proper road nor it is offroad!! The road is not completely gone makes it bumpy all through the distance of about more than 50km! and all through that 50km I had to ride for about 20-30kmph speed . Another worst thing is that there will be absolutely no vehicle at all on that route, nor does people! and there is a scare of naxals activity. Lucky me my bike didn't gave up anywhere in the middle of the forest!!

    Here is the video.

The feel of riding home is one of the best you will ever have. And that too for two week holday!! This is the third time i am going by bike and this time it is for the occassion of brother's marriage. I feel for my mom who always get scared of my rides but too sweet to say no! So i started on 29th Nov early morning exactly at 5. My hand gloves were torn but with last min hurry i did not get time to buy a new one. But there was a added advantage of it which i will tell later

With all the bangalore weather changed to chilly cold, it was a bliss to start the ride. For the first few minutes i was shivering but my body got accustomed to it soon. Sun did not come up even after i rode for around 40 km's in mangalore - bangalore highway.

Bangalore to hassan is a boring route if you dont have a super bike! so when i get bored and nothing else to see i would look up! and there was a amazing sky that day!

    Some lake on the way.

    Took this route,

Bangalore - Chennarayapatna - Shanivara santhe - Bisle ghat - Subrahmanya - Mangalore

Once i crossed shanivara santhe it was all green route.

I dont know what fruit is this but it looked nice! The added advantage of gloves were nothing but to use my touch screen phone without removing it

    Forest route started.

Weather was bit sunny so didn't feel the heat much. The route was full of villages and it was pleasure to ride. But once i crossed shanivara santhe the bad roads started! I knew it would be a bad road, but i underestimated the level of it!! There were absolutely no road, or full of stone rubbles. Somehow reached till bisle ghat view and it was a amazing view from there.

First thing my mom and my niece did was to start scolding me when i removed my helmet! And that was for my 'No shave November' beard! To tease them i kept that beard till the last day of my brothers marriage. Every day they both make plans to cut my beard when i sleep

Go pro was busy doing its timelapse video!

here is the link to the video captured.

The worst road continued till Subrahmanya!! But the comforting thing was about the nature! There were absolutely no vehicles and no clue of people as well. Hardly got to see some 2 or 3 cars thats all.

    Some old bridge.

Was too late for the timer!

I guess many bikers know about this place! Should have visited during rainy season.

And finally the good roads once reached to Subrahmanya.

    Thanks,
    Arun

Enjoyed the video. The view from Bisle ghat was amazing. I liked the shot of the sky above. Pity about the bad roads, that kind of thing just sucks and is a total waste of time.

Amazing stuff @ridingsouls! Loved the video!

A few of my friends had a nasty experience at Bisle. They were almost robbed/attacked by four guys there. They had to turn back and scoot. Now, were these Naxalites or small time dacoits, we don't know!

The road does look secluded and gives one an eerie feeling! Once, I was driving with Mrs from Madikeri to Chennarayapatna via Somwarpet and Shanivarasanthe after dark. We were very surprised at how scarily empty these roads were!

Btw, are all pictures screen grabs from the video or shot from phone/cam?

Thanks Suhas. Luckily I did not encounter any people nor any wild animals. However it was empty roads all the way.

The pictures were taken from a point and shoot sony cybershot camera. Go Pro clicks doesn't come that good!

Some amazing views out there bro, especially the one from Bisle ghat, is superb. The Go-pro video has also come out well and has given a good start to this t-log.

good stuff bro.. looks pretty interesting , can you share more details about the route, fuel, food etc availability en route etc. Would like to plan a ride too as the roads and the views are really inspiring.

                  thanks

                    Hi Josh,

Like i said its a pain to ride in that route with very bad roads. I would have done that if i had the same pulsar 150 which is very good on off road as well. Now i have upgraded to ktm duke 200 I will not plan that ride. You wont get food or fuel once you enter Bisle for like 40 kms..

                    Here is the route
Find local businesses, view maps and get driving directions in Google Maps.

                    Thanks
