Goa is a state of mind.
This statement, borrowed from internet, says a lot about the beautiful coastal state in western India. Amazing people, delicious cuisine, plenty of sunshine, excellent roads, green forests and beautiful beaches are some of the reasons why Goa is one of the perfect holiday destinations.
Starting the journey.
Our destination was Palolem in South Goa and we decided to take the Belgaum- Chorla ghat route. Half of our journey would be at night so we decided to ride the highway till Belgaum covering maximum distance at higher but safe speeds.
Loaded the bikes, bullet had the claw and another bag pack of top of it. With around 55 litres of capacity of Claw both our stuff was packed easily in it with still space left for more. Fueled up and took the Pune Bangalore highway quickly covering the distance with the exception of the Khambataki ghat were traffic was moving at snail's pace.
Stopped for chai at Wele just after Khambataki Ghats.
The highway had heavy traffic and our going was slow. Plan was to reach Kohlapur right after sunset but saw the sun going down right after Satara only.
Met this trucker at a tea stall who started the conversation related to our gear and how our vests had similar reflective properties as his trucks's numerous reflective strips. He was drving alone to Bangalore from Ahmedabad. After chatting for a while we wished safe journey to the fellow traveler and headed towards Kohlapur.
By the time we reached Nipani it was already dark. Stopped for dinner here, had couple of vada pavs along with a cup of coffee and pushed ahead to Belgaum.
At Nipani
The traffic had now started to thin out. We increased our pace. Had some scary moments with trucks coming at us from the wrong side of the road headlights at full beam and motorists merging dangerously at intersections. Plenty of dogs as roadkill further wracked our nerves. One of those under our front tire and it will definitely be the end.
Dodging all that we entered Belgaum city at around 11 pm and refueled. Asked for directions and headed to to Chorla
The road sign signalling the starting of the best leg of the journey.
The rest after the approval.
to be continued.........
