  • 'Thank you God' ride to Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

It all began while i was in the process of completing the deal on my Zuma in mid March. I had decided that my first long trip will be to Nathdwara. I had a vacation planned between 22nd May to 6th June for a trip to Sikkim. The trip got cancelled and i seized the opportunity an started planning for the ride.
I had been going for small rides with the Zuma on a regular basis to get familiarized with the bike as it was a pre-owned bike that i had bought. 2 days before the trip i realized that my rear brake shoes had worn out and i needed to replace them. Thankfully, they are the same as the CBR 250R and didn't cost a bomb. Got the Brake shoes replaced and went for a short spin to check how did the brakes and the overall bike fare. It was magical and i got very confident of my ride.
I had already got myself a Viaterra Claw(Large) since my better half has back problems, I will be solo on my long rides.
The Night of 22nd May, i had decided that i will go to sleep early and start early. I had already packed my bags and kept things ready to be picked up and leave.
I tried to sleep early, but couldn't out of excitement. Since there was a celestial event in the week and you could see a lot of stars and planets, I decided to go to the terrace and try some photography. It was brilliant!!!
Finally, I managed to sleep at about 00:30. Got up again at 03:00 and just couldn't go back to sleep. I beat the 5 alarms I had set on my Mobile phone. (yes 5, starting at 4:00 and spaced every 10 mins )
At 04:15, I was with my bags at the bike. 04:30, I was on my way...

Re: 'Thank you God' ride to Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

I had aimed for 400Kms/day and finish before 12:00 noon to avoid the afternoon heat.

          Dawn on the Highway

This was at the Maharashtra Check Post.

Some Pics of the Moon while i was trying to get some sleep.

Met some real bad traffic at Vapi

Thanks to some regular commuters, i was led through a shortcut and out of the traffic. Wanted to get some Pics but they looked to be in a hurry.

Also met some slow moving traffic at Bharuch.

          Reaching Vadodara

Luckily My Uncle stays very close to the Highway, reached my destination in Vadodara within 10mins.
It was a surprise as they knew nothing about my trip. Though i had messaged my cousin the day before and had asked him to announce my trip in the morning. It was a Saturday morning and he woke up late and completely forgot to inform my Uncle and Aunt about my trip.
Parked the Zuma in their society at 11:37.
It was a very pleasant surprise for them and in a way i was glad that my cousin forgot to inform them

As per my plan, I was supposed to leave the next morning(24th May'15), but after they insisted that i leave on Monday morning (25th May'15), i couldn't refuse.

          Vadodara Skyline

With the Zuma taking a well deserved rest and me with my loved ones, time flew.

Monday morning, On my way to Nathdwara at 04:51.

This day had its own plans
Had some difficulty in finding my way back to the NH8. Finally, found it and was on my was at 05:15.
Hit a 'Y' crossing and chose the wrong one, took the Vadodara - Ahmedabad Expressway. Didn't realize till i reached the Toll Booth after 5 Kms into the Expressway. I was asked to take a U-Turn and exit as there was no other exit ahead.
          Finally back on the NH8.
Now i had to take an exit at Dakor onto the SH59 and i missed the exit. Reached Nadiyad and started looking for the exit. Luckily, the SH59 was not too far away as per the map. started into the city and after a couple of U-Turns, found the SH59. Once on the SH59, it was beautiful.

The Roads completely changed after crossing the Gujarat Border. The Dark and Light shades on the Road are very difficult to ride on. The Light shaded part are depressions and the Dark shaded part is heaped due to the Tar accumulated from the depressed parts on both the side. You have to keep on the Light track as the Dark track is very unstable and rough. It becomes very tough while overtaking and letting other speeding vehicles overtake as you have to switch tracks. Every vehicle tries to keep their wheels on the light tracks.

The Aravali Ghats were a pleasure to ride on. A new bypass Tunnel is being built to avoid the Ghats.

          Reached Nathdwara at 13:30.
Searched for a Hotel that will allow the Zuma to be parked securely. Finally checked into Hotel Vrinda Nikunj at 14:30.
