  • Highway to heaven- OOTY ride

Hi guys. It has been a while since I last posted here and that's because of my grandmother's demise. I hope this post will compensate for the long absence . cheers.

We had been planning for a trip to Ooty for very long but a trip 'together' never happened even though most of us made it seperately . However, the trip finally happened and turned out to be one of our best trips.

    Blog entry here
I have also made a short video of our trip. watch it here:

It was pure adrenaline rush once we entered the Gundulpet - Masinagudi road. Trust me guys, you would love this road to every bit. To be honest, we were speeding little too much but I am not here to argue about the 'rights' and 'wrongs' of speeding. I simply won't believe in the conventions and yeah I have had my share of accidents in case if you are about to say 'once you meet with an accident you will know'. For those people who don't waste the precious moments of their life worrying about things that don't really matter, I suggest, twist your throttle and enjoy the roads (given that you are a responsible rider. know your limits. there is no way you can take curve at 90Kmph if it is designed to handle only up to 80. I hope my stand is clear ).

Ooty was as always beautiful and I am not writing much about ooty since I have already posted about it in a different thread. However, I am posting the photos of new places I visited this time. Ooty never ceased to amaze me each time I visited and there are many more places to explore in ooty even now. Those who haven't yet gone to ooty, please, go here soon .

The picture below is a farmhouse of a family friend of my fellow rider and this place was the best we visited this time. This is an acre of private land right in the middle of the forest and the scenic view, I don't have to say anything more as you can see it for yourself. However, riding bikes here is not so feasible since the roads are steep and slushy. we hired a jeep to go here and the ride on its top was totally worth it.

Bit of wild life while we were traveling to the farmhouse. That is a flying squirrel (Jumps from trees to trees but really long distances).

Guys I want you all to go to this place called 'Earl's secret' in ooty. The place is very expensive but you have to go there and try the brownies here. They are amazing delicacies. and it is perfectly isolated from all the hustle of ooty and it is on top of a hill and is perfectly calm and peaceful. try this place once.

How can the trip be complete if we don't hitch a ride in the nilgiri express

Not to diss you at all, but some constructive criticism!

The video you have shared, you might like that sort of music, but it just doesn't go with the video! A 5 minute video of only riding is boring. A tourer does a lot more than just ride a bike. Try to capture that and share in a video the next time you make. Like your photos have food in it as well, put stuff like that in the video. Try to make it more engaging.

To clarify, am no video making expert. My opinion is that of a humble viewer.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I am really glad that someone finally gave me a constructive feed back .... you are the first one to tell me something in detail about it even though a friend of mine had told me that he didn't like the portions i fast forwarded. Your comments are really appreciated and yeah I will look into whatever you suggested when i make the next video. And PS: this was the first time i ever made a video on something and definitely there will be some drawbacks. Only with honest opinions like you gave, there will be any chance of improvement. Thanks a lot.

Good to see your positive spirit & learning effort; pls keep these points during next time; there're more, but pls take baby steps for now...
                  - Video should NEVER be shaky
                  - No scene should be more than 10-15 seconds unless you're going to show that you're trying uncover some mystery or do something hilarious
                  - Have a smooth transition between scenes
                  - Use software like Adobe Premier Pro for editing work
                  - Lighting has to be good both during shooting & during post processing/editing
                  - Music, music & music HAS to go well with the foreground scenes; believe me, I've so much of pain & spend too much time only on this
                  - Last but not the least, all music HAS to be given due credits & acknowledgement without which one can be sued for copying; one word, avoid all the copyrighted music & go for free music

                  Good luck

Thanks akshay. Yeah the road was really good except for very short stretches between masinagudi and ooty... a few kilometers between masinagudi and the beginning of hairpin bends the roads are very narrow and have many potholes. and the hairpin bends too aren't very smooth but not too bad.
