Monsoon did not start yet and I had plans to visit Masinagudi once it started raining. However when I saw some pics uploaded by a friend who visited masinagudi week back, I thought it is perfect time to visit anyway. It was all greenery but with no rain. And I was bored of riding towards Dabaspet for some destination every weekend. Also its been a while we gone for a two day ride and now I have my KTM! So when my friends talked about which place to visit for a two day ride, I just suggested this place. And to tempt them showed few pics taken by a friend. They got excited more than me and hence we decided to ride to Masinagudi on two day ride. Three married couple, myself and Mohan on 5 bikes!
Here is the Video documentary of the ride!
Decided kanakapura route was more scenic than mysore, we stopped near Malavalli for breakfast.
Yummy idly
Heard from the locals there that Kollegal route was closed due to construction and we had to take long route instead. However they suggested we can cross the river through ferry which they did not suggest earlier as they dint think we would go for such thing. Once we came to know about it, we thought why not try it. My gang is full of people who always want to try out of the box things! So blessed to be around such people. So we took the road(not exactly road!) less travelled!(Robert Frost would be so proud!)
We had to take left from Malavalli and after 11 km's take divertion to Belakavadi. Continue till Kaveripura and there you have a govt authorised ferry service and they would charge very less. However even before Kaveripura some locals were stopping people on the road and diverting them to the River where there is crossing through Iron boat thing( I dont even know what that called). Though they had a ferry service there, for new people they were charging more. Anyway we had a great experience there.

Reached Bandipur in no time!
Wild deers.
Peacock
We were halfway inside the Bandipur forest and then we encountered the rain! It was cloudy weather and I was the happy man! Got to feel the rain even before monsoon started! and that too in one the first long ride on KTM!
We booked the Jungle paradise resort which is bit inside from the Masinagudi bus stand. It was surrounded by thick forest. We reached by around 1.30 and after some waiting we got the yummy lunch.
Fishing!
The resort was very friendly and he was like one of us. A software engineer who is of our age, left job in bangalore and started his resort in Masinagudi. From the conversation he seems to be doing very good. There was bit shortage of resources though place is very good for hangout. For evening he has arranged a small trekking and evening safari. He took us in the Jeep towards the small hill beside the resort.
This was one of the breathtaking view. It was just stopped raining and the clouds were passing through this mighty hill!
As it rained few min back, the ground was totally slippery and the Jeep was literally slipping off the hill. We did try to give a push for a while but with no luck. We parked the Jeep and climbed all the way up.

The log hut where we stayed.
It was late by the time we got down from the hill so we cancelled the evening safari as the animal spotting was purely on luck. So we relaxed for the night. Day 2 will follow soon.

Arun
