• My first travelogue.

Alright here goes.

This trip happened way back in 2011. I really am not the sort of person who travel for a reason. Most trips I have done so far were never planned. I just decide one morning I want to go for a ride and I go. Most of the times I end up somewhere I never meant to go.
But this one day trip I did was one of the very few I did with some planning. I had just bought my first ever camera. It was a canon SX130. So I thought I would give it a test drive.

So I started from my place at about 6 o clock. The destination was idukki dam. The folks from Kerala are just lucky to have a good monsoon season. But the bikers sometimes get the worst of monsoon. And since yours truly was an ignorant idiot back then, I had no gear whatsoever. Yep I didn't even own a decent rain coat back then. I just had a helmet. In my defense, It was one of the good ones we had in Kerala back then. It was from a brand called Cross. Wow I am going way off topic.

So with nothing to protect me from the rain, I resorted to what anyone would do in that position. Pray to rain gods for mercy only in my case I prayed it no to rain for the whole day. But like my mom says, my astrology is all messed up and the rain gods just opened the door at about 8 am. So I had to take refuge in a small restaurant somewhere near Kottayam.

My ride, the pulsar 220 dts fi was outside in the rain. I was waiting for the skies to clear up or at least give me a chance to get out and ride in something like a slight drizzle. But I had to wait till 10 o'clock for the rain to stop. But I had some nice company. The owner of the hotel was a nice old couple and we had some nice time chatting. They asked me where I was going and when I said Idukki dam, They told me that was a bad idea to go there. As it turned out the dam was not open for public at that time. Their relatives were there in Idukki and they were kind enough to call them and enquire.

Remember what I said about my plans changing and most of the times ending up going to entirely different destinations. Well here is a fine example of plans falling apart. Probably the reason why I don't plan anything these days.

So then they advised me to proceed to a place called Peerumade. So I was there in kottayam and making the decision of where to head. Had already done 90 km owing to less traffic in the early morning. Then I sort of had to change the plans to Peerumade. I didn't have a clue of the road condition. For all I know it would be horrible. But I decided to take a leap of faith, and head to Peerumade which was about 80 km away. But little did I know what the day had in store for me. (clue:- Google maps was absolutely horrible back then.)

Peerumade....

If I could live there, I would. That's how beautiful that place was.

Here are some pics.

Since it was a new camera, I didn't really have unbelievable photography skills. So if the pics are not good, Kindly forgive. When you start from the bottom, there is always room for improvement. Sort of the reason why I am doing my first travelogue on one of my earliest trips.

To be continued.

I am not saying I am gonna post the rest after approval like everyone else here seems to be doing. I am not gonna disrespect the moderators like that.
But the kind of lazy fellow that I am, I just cant type anymore now, Will do it later tomorrow..

Hope this get approved!!!!

Don't know how to reserve the next couple of posts. Will have to figure that out.

Very nice travelog. If you would have been doing this now I'm sure you'd capture more and type more stories.

The conditions might be different now, anyhow did you find the place to be safe for couples to travel and maybe get a nice stay with decent amount?

Hey fellow xbhpians, greetings. I have seen in many threads ppl quote the entire TL to reply. I would suggest, just use reply option instead. That will avoid congestion in log & servers too.
mod! Please advice.
Not sure if the same is already mentioned in DOs & don't DOs thread.
