The day with destination towards a paradise on earth was our objective to explore one day, as the journey on bike through the whole stretch of destination was amazing. The Himalayan mountain range is full of natural beauty and adventurous locations, and we programmed for exploring GURUDONGMAR LAKE, and associated locations of North SIKKIM.
The Morning of 30th April 2014 at 06:00Hrs, we started our 9 days journey from Guwahati with three of our xBhp ASSAM club friends, with fully loaded saddle bags on our back seats with edibles and warm clothes, first aid kit, medicines, full biking safety gears and extra oil gallons. Our first day halt in Siliguri, where we had warm welcome and hospitality by the local biker club there.Click image for larger version

On 3rd May 10:00 Hrs we start up towards North Sikkim from Gangtok accelerating up through the Mountain curve road. We rode about 80Km. Due to heavy rainfall the road were muddy and slippery and it took 8hours to reach CHUNGTHANG. We parked our bikes inside the premises of a Guruduwara in CHUNGTHANG, where there is a Dharamsala full of SIKH pilgrims, we lodged for the night in a small town roadside lodging.Click image for larger version

In the morning we wake up at around 6 am, we had a nice view of the Green mountain and the chill wind refreshed the freshness of natural surrounding. We could see Snow covered mountains from our hotel room, We immediately made a little change in the plan and decided to move towards snow covered Yumthang Vally and Yumesangdong(Populerly known as Zero point). We had our morning breakfast in the restaurant of the same lodge owner. The owner use to be a simple man, our conversation for few minutes turned out to be very friendly, that he guided geography of our destination; also he shared information regarding our shelter during our trip. We headed towards the Gurudwara to get our bikes, there we met Mr. Singh who is a middle aged guy, very adventurous, he owns a Land Rover type BOLERO 4x4 with self customised winch machine. We were very thankful for his help and hospitality; he talked something like the flower that is famous in Yumthang Valley, the destination which we are going to target for the day. We packed up fully loaded our bikes and started for the daylong journey. After few KMs of our broom-broom one of our mates got some Electronic problem in his 500cc thunderbird, we repaired within few minutes and roared all thru the route of LACHUNG it has its remarkable variety of flowers the world renowned Mr. Derrick from Germany guided by Mr Parnesh Dahal a Sikkim biker Guy; Mr. Derrick had clutch problem in his 500cc Royal Enfield, he stopped us and asked for help, we fixe his clutch cable with spare clutch cable carried by us. He was very thankful to us that we helped him 160km away from Gangtok Royal Enfield Service centre. We had hot tea from the roadside tea stall, as a treat from Mr. Derrick for the immense help, it was just Hello, Hi, Help-Bye Bye type moment. Click image for larger version

We later head towards Yumgsamdong, Zero point fully covered up by fog all along the Hair Pin off road. We had the bikers fun at Zero point with x-Bhp cravings over ice, pop-corn boosted our breathing as we not adjusted with the weather at 15500ft.Click image for larger version

The morning SUN reflected the amazing view of LACHEN Snow covered mountains- we have no words to explain the real Natural Beauty. Outside the lodge there was full of tourists who were ready for GURUDONGMAR LAKE, they gathered around our bike, asking about our biking adventure, we had few minutes talk with them and kids having photo sessions with our Bikes. We left our Luggage in the Lodge and got our Water and Petrol filled gallons tied on our Bike, as both the requirement are scarce on the way from LACHEN to GURUDONGMAR LAKE. We had to cross approximately 70km from LACHEN town to GURUDONGMAR. The length is totally military off-road, Glaciers, streams, curvy roads with patches of local resident. As the area is bordering CHINA, we can see INDIAN Soldiers, artillery, warehouse camouflage, check-gate for visitors where everyone have to verify their permit and identity. About 10km before reaching GURUDONGMAR LAKE there is the last INDIAN-SOLDIER check gate, we had some funny conversations with the SOLDIERS, where one said, Click image for larger version

Ya! What he instructed was true-as we were riding from the check-gate we saw the entire stretch of the road to the destination was barren land barbed wire fenced, where there was WARNING boards hanged But we enjoyed the soft gravel road to GURUDONGMAR, we had photo sessions in hurry. Reached the spot where the view was again amazing at 171000ft. Click image for larger version

ID:	1991288 The lake is partially frozen covered by snow, as some portion remains water all over the year, as people believe true ancient mythology of the LAKE. As for high altitude we had safe tour surrounding the lake, enjoyed photography and exchanging words of appreciation of natural beauty. We spent about 45 minutes there and back to LACHEN had traditional lunch, loaded our luggage as we have to ride 110km more upto GANGTOK the same day. We reached GANGTOK at around 11pm as it was a RAINY DARK night. The GUY at TWILIGHT LODGE,GANGTOK lodge was very loyal that we had phone contact with him, for which he waited for us nice hospitality, we are very thankful to him. We took rest for the night and started again via RUMTEK MONESTRY. The MONESTRY is amazing place to visit in the heart of GANGTOK, as it is a long history to explain behind RUMTEK, simply to say Visit this MONESTRY again in the next trip. We spent few hours there, had our lunch in the street stall and started downhill to SILIGURI. We were again with UNDERGROUND BIKE BURNERS, there the bikers again helped us for our night hold, had discussion over our GURUDONGMAR visit, was an awesome night feeling BACK HOME trip to GUWAHATI.Click image for larger version

The whole expedition ended while we rode again 540km up-to GUWAHATI, it was mid-night again when we reached own shelter. As we were all tired, we were happy to complete one of the tough ride with safety and we are confirmed to start another new ride again to mingle with new day, amazing people, new destination, new milestone.
Thanking every one supporting to feel homely wherever we moved:
