  • [Photo Feature]: A Sole Journey with Smile (Chennai to Bangalore)

    Dear All,

This is Palash Bhattacharyya working as IT Specialist at HCL Technologies.
Riding bike and Photography is my life as well as my passion.

Just made a successfull solo trip from (Chennai to Bangalore) then (Bangalore to Nandi Hills) and then (Bangalore to Chennai) total (910kms)
It was amazing trip as well as wonderful experience.

    Briefing About the trip :-

It was a Saturday morning 22nd August 1:00 AM, just returned from the Office. I was thinking of going out somewhere, may be a kind of early morning ride.

Suddenly, a thought just strike into my mind to go for a long ride.
So i have decided to go to Banagalore, though it was very quick decision, but still i have decided to go.

Few things which is very important i believe when you go a for a long ride.

-Make sure you take a good nap, before you start your journey.
-Check the road in GPS and choose the better road to travel.
-Check the Oil Lubricants status of you bike Chain, if incase it is dry, please spray it.
-Check the Engine Oil Quantity, make sure it should be filled.
-Make sure you wear a Jacket, Helmet and Gloves while riding.
-Maintain the speed always under 75-80 Km/hr
-Do not ever try over speed, even after if you see the road is clear.
-Please give a 10-15 mins of break in every 80km.

Though it was my first time long ride, but i feel these things will keep u awake and active from the sleep while you will be riding.
When you will do more that 600 kms, it will be for sure 12-14 hours journey, so sleep well before you start.

So i got all the suggestions from the professional riders, and followed religiously. So that is were i have completed the entire trip without having any issues.

Roads were awesome to ride. SO i started exactly from chennai at 3:30 AM and reached Bangalore by 10 AM (crossed approx 367km).

Entire day i was roaming the city to explore more and try to know the place. Took a very good rest for 6 hours.

Very next day, i started again by 3:30 AM from Bangalore to Nandi Hills, which was about 70KMs. After that came to my friends place at afternoon.
Same again went out with friends and started to roam around the city, though it was a huge traffic at bangalore, still i have enjoyed the evening because the climate was awesome.

Again went back to friends room, took rest for 6 hours, and started again from Bangalore at 3:00 AM and reached chennai by 11:00 AM.

I Might be wrong in many areas, but your suggestions will be always helpful to grow better. Thank you for reading this.

Nice t-log and good pics there buddy. I always travel with my bike in that road. I will accomplish that one day .

One question though - Didnt the cops in Blr see the TN number plate and hassle you? If not, well and good.

Lovely roads. Is the entire stretch from Bangalore to Chennai well paved like in the pictures? Why does one need to keep the toll receipts? Are bikes charged toll in TN and Karnataka states?

No. Until vellore roads are bad. After that it's a drivers heaven.

Non-KA vehicles can be driven in the state for only 30 days whereas in other states the rule is valid for a year. Beyond 30 days you'll have to pay lifetime tax and get your vehicle registered. So to prove you were in the state for less than 30 days you can show your toll receipts if questioned by cops

Okay, thanks for clarifying that. Around how many kms are the roads bad for?

Around 100kms. Part of it bad part of it should be ok but no butter smooth. After vellore we went around 120-140 on swift.

This reminds me of my first trip which was done from bangalore to chennai and chennai to bangalore on my RX back in 2012. NH4 is always a great road to start the journey.

There were no problem at all when you have all papers (Carry Original RC Book, Insurance Paper)

Most Important things Cops in Bangalore are very gentle. No one stopped for seeing TN Board.
Even if they ask you, just tell you came as a tourist, they will leave you easily.

One ward - NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

I do this on a weekly basis

Work at Bangalore, and "commute" to Chennai to be with friends and family for the weekend...

Regarding the KA police, they will stop your vehicle if it is registered in another state. They will ask you for documents and will ask you to state your purpose. Retaining the toll receipt is of vital importance in these situations... For people who aren't fluent in Kannada, it will be a hurdle.
