  • Ashtavinayak Ride : 2 Guys, 8 Temples, 750 Kms

This is the first time I am going to pen down my experience about the ride I have done. I hope it comes well.

On 25th August 2015 I left my job, so I was practically berojgar, I wanted to ride so I planned Rajasthan Ride, and this ride would cover Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bulletbaba Mandir and back home. But due to some family reasons I needed to visit my native place, And my Rajasthan Ride gone for toss. So I left with only week in hand, and I also need to keep 2-3 days buffer for collecting documents for joining in the new company.

Then I thought why not Ashtavinayak. A long awaited, through various districts, covering almost 750 kms., with variety of road conditions. I put my query about road map on the HVK forum on Facebook. I got the route map and a partner. Sagar Kane. With this guy I have done multiple rides, including off roading at Rajmachi.

So dates were finalized, as per Sagar’s convenience as I was okay with any day . Below is the route which we have taken after lot of alterations.

Dombivli- Malshej Ghat- Lenyadri- Ozar- Narayangaon- Shirur- Ranjangaon- Daund Fata- Siddhatek – Chaufula – Supa- Morgaon- Chaufula – Theur – Pune – Lonawla – Pali – Mahad – Dombivli.

    The Bikes Used was:
Me – Bajaj Avenger 220 Dts-I (Cramster Turtle for Luggage)
Sagar – Hero CBZ Xtreem (Viaterra Rapide for his stuff)

Just the day before the ride I received msg from Sagar that he can not be released from the office before 5. So It was impossible to do Lenyadri after 5, because we have to do subsequent climb on feet to make it to Lenyadri and again we have to make it to Ozar for night stay and riding in the night in the Malshej is dangerous. So we decided that I should go for Lenyadri and reach Ozar and take a room in Bhaktaniwas and Sagar should join me directly in Ozar later in the evening.
So as per plan I left home around 1.30 in the afternoon on 3rd September 2015 and started towards Lenyadri. I was here many times. Malshej is my favorite destination for ride, but this was different. I took no stops till Malshej, that is around 100 kms from my home. Because of no rains, beautiful Malshej was looking bad, I cant see Malshej in that phase. After some selfies I was off to Lenyadri after Malshej there is big board stating ‘ Welcome to Shivaji Mahahraj’s Land’ Shivneri (this is where Shivaji Maharaj was born) by continuing that route through some twisties I reached Lenyadri around 3.35 PM.

I went at Ozar lake . Later in the evening Sagar also joined me at Ozar after lot off chit chat our day comes to an end.

There are two ways to this Ashtavinayak ride:

        1. In sequence
        2. Circular sequence

Route 1. In this you ride in sequence as said or believe by the pandits or old age people.
i.e 1. Moreshwar temple in Morgaon. 2. Siddhivinyak Temple in Siddhatek 3. Ballaleshwar Temple in Pali 4. Vardavinayak Temple in Mahad 5. Chintamani Temple in Theur 6. Girijatmaj Temple in Lenyadri 7. Vighnahar Temple in Ozar 8. Mahaganpati Temple in Ranjangaon and now back to Frits temple Moreshwar temple in morgaon. IN this between you can either you can visit a Mahadev temple at start or end or in between as well. When you start your darshan from Moreshwar temple tell the Panditji that you are doing it in sequence. So he will give a Coconut which you need to touch on each other ganpati and bring it back to Moreshwar Ganpati and complete the Ashtavinayak Darshan.

Route 2. You Start with 1.Vardavinayak Temple in Mahad 2. Ballaleshwar Temple in Pali 3. Chintamani Temple in Theur 4.Moreshwar temple in Morgaon. 5. Siddhivinyak Temple in Siddhatek 6. Mahaganpati Temple in Ranjangaon 7. Vighnahar Temple in Ozar 8. Girijatmaj Temple in Lenyadri and back to home via Malshez Ghat.

In Route 1 you do hard riding and needs 3 days to do it in relax manner else you will be riding like mad in 48 hrs to complete. (I did it in 2 days, due to shartage of leaves had a Car, Second time did it on bike but this time chose the route 2)

You will get cheap accomodation in all Ganpati Temples due to TRUST. The stay option in Moreshwar\ Ozar\ Rajhangaon are best others are average.
Temples remain open till 9:00pm only apart from Moreshwar temple. due to many people doing sequence wise come late to temple to finish.
You will get the food as prasad at Siddhatek\ Ranjangao etc.

Best of luck for the Darshan.

                        Ashtavinayak Ride : 2 Guys, 8 Temples, 750 Kms

                        Continued from Day 1…
Let me tell you guys about accommodation at Ozar. Ozar is very nice place to stay. Lake, Pleasant climate, very very nice Bhaktaniwas. But only one problem, only couples can’t stay here. These guys won’t allow to get a room for couple. So guys who are planning to do this with their wives, better take this in consideration.
So Sagar arrived at Ozar around 10, On a next day we were planning to cover 4 Ganapati temples, i.e. Ranajangaon, Siddhatek , Morgaon, Theur and find a place to stay for the day. At Theur also you can have a stay in Bhaktaniwas, but Sagar has something different in mind.
Early morning we went in Ozar Temple to get the Darshan, again no rush, we took darshan, had a tea and came back to the room, got ready and ready to roll for Ranjangaon.

Our first stop was at Narayangaon, we had awesome missal pav. Started towards Ranjangaon. After amazing road we took left towards Ranjangaon at Shirur. After that we were amazed by Nagar Pune highway. We were maintaining comfortable 90kmph speed and at one place we decided to stop and ask for direction the place was Karegaon. 11 kms ahead of Ranjangaon. Damn due to great roads we came 11 kms ahead. WE took u-turn and covered 11 kms in 11 minutes. Thanks to super amazing roads and minimal traffic. We reached Ranjangaon, again very nice temple and no rush at all. Some pics of Ranjangaon.

After Ranjangaon our target was Siddhatek, The only temple which is far away from other temples, We started towards Siddhatek. After taking right at Belwandi Fata towards Siddhatek we seen a distance board showing Siddhatek is another 65 kms away. We started pushing towards Siddhatek roads were initially good conditions but some 20 kms away from Siddhatek it became worse. For me its nightmare. Because design of my Cruiser . Sagar quickly went in motocross mode, but for me it is impossible to stand on foot pegs as the are front set. So somehow we reached Siddhatek, I liked temple its calm and all stone made. Pics of Siddhatek Siddhivinayak temple.

After doing speed run on it we took left towards Theur and narrow roads begin it was still 6 and we had lot of time in hand after some quick photo session we reachd Theur, Again very calm temple. No rush at all.

After darshan Sagar came with the idea that we can stay at his friend’s room at Pune university hostel. I was okay and we marching towards Pune University and we lost in crazy carzy Pune traffic. We were like two kids who lost in mela and trying to stay together. After some time we found one Harley Iron 883 rider. Sagar asked him about the rout and surprisingly he helped and told us to follow him and we were escorted to Pune University safely. But one thing about that Harley, It was modified but not the exhaust and lights it had a chrome treatment all over the bike, the rider was not wearing any riding gears but had a sweet LS2 helmet with Scala on it. Other guys were trying their hard to keep up with three of us and fail eventually.
After reaching room we found out was room was very small but the guy Parag Joshi with whom we were staying was kind of interesting guy. He was cycle crazy and completed Ladakh on cycle, hats off bro…After having dinner at dhabha which is some 8 kms away we bac to room, slept. Next day we had to vising Pali, Mahad and reach back home In the afternoon.

On next morning we were up at 6 packed up but didn’t took bath, as bathroom at hostel was not that in good condition. And we decided to do it at Pali. After reaching our fav old Pune Mumbai road we again started cruising around 85-90 kmph enjoying ride, stopped at Lonawla to click some pics.

And we took left at Khalapur Fata and Started towards Wakan . and reached Pali around 11.30. We took bath in Bhaktaniwas and took darshan. Started towards our last temple Mahad. Nothing much to tell about day’s ride. It was uneventful and completed smoothly. We high-fived each other after reaching Mahad. That comes to end of our Ashatavinayak Ride.

After this Sagar went straight to office and I come directly to home by Shil Phata road.
This was one of most great and smooth ride for me till now, no close calls no panic brakes nothing in this ride. In all 8 temple we found out no rush. As if the temples were opened only for us.

Thank you guys for reading this blog. Spare me for my bad writing style. Do ask me for any queries for this ride, road map and anything. Do share your feed back.
                        Thank you,
                        Ride Safe…
