  • [Photo Feature]: Babiyar - A Long Awaited Dream

Uncle:BabiyarMe: Why Babiyar uncle? (Hearing it for the 1st time)
Uncle:Me:Uncle: No one mentioned it before because no one except your Grandfather had gone there. Even I am going for the first time.
Me:Uncle:Me: 9-10 kms on foot and that too on hilly paths.
Uncle: Yes, believe me it would be fun going there.
Me: I would go there only when the roads reach there, this time you go and see the ancestral house and guide me later about the route.

    Day 1st (July 16, 2015): Haldwani-Bhimtal-Khutani-Padampuri-Gunialekh-Churigar-Kalagadi-Tapua-Babiyar

Woke up at 6am in the morning and look outside the window in excitement and just then my whole excitement vanished, it was raining heavily outside and in no way my parents allow me to go in that kinda rain L
I literally started cursing gods for this and came out of my room. But just after 1 hour rain stopped and I thought maybe god realizes that how badly I wanted to go there!!!

So started the trip at 8:00am by taking 1st photo of the trip:

This was toughest part of the whole journey, the route was from the right and the bike was on 1st gear
for next 2kms ( my Raxy was never stressed like this before as most of the time I preferred to ride alone).
After the 2km straight uphill stretch was conquered , stopped the bike for 20min to cool down the

Just after few hundred meters the stones disappear, now I began to worry as the path ahead was all

people. Enquired this with Nanaji and he told us that this pathway is very much new and is made when
construction of road is started as the old pathway is from the forest area and its first intersection with
    road is miles away.

I was touched by the warm welcome and the way all treated me, though they all were seeing me for the first time in their life. Just then my eyes got fixed to a iron pipe laying at one end of the bed, immediately took it out and adrenaline starts pumping in my blood again. Seeing my wide open eyes, at least once how it fires and below is the end result of all my pleading

And there is no need to apologize as we all know that all that conversions were to make xBhp more speedy and joyful ( I surely like the processing speed of vB5 but vB4 is more user friendly ) . Hope the duo of these two would come soon [emoji106]

At around 2pm we all were back at the home and after walking that much the hot and spicy food was just delicious for my taste buds. After some rest I was again recharged for roaming around the mountains so grab one of my uncle there who was just 3 years older than me and leaves the house at 4:30pm. First we went to see the old ancestral house(where my maternal Grandfather was born) which is now left abandoned(due to age factor)

They were kind of extinct in cities, but here I saw plenty of them

One thing which troubles me was that unlike Ranikhet and other hilly regions I have seen, the paths here are not that well built, and if a local person is not with you than you can never think that there is a path ahead of you (which is regularly used by the people)

After cherishing the cool weather for almost 1 hour, its time to head back home before it gets dark, as wild boars used to roam around the mountains in the dark and we all can predict what could happen if we encounter one

Re: Babiyar - A Long Awaited Dream

Hi Jatin! Nice pics there and Babiyar is beautiful. All those villages in hills that are not in reach of roads, are beautiful, coz they are safe from concretization. Growing builders are at least stay away from that village.

The time of Harela is very beautiful time to visit hills. Coz of lush green landscapes.

In your pics the road from Khutani to Padampuri looks good. I went there last week. Many places btw Khutani & Padampuri are pathetic.

There is a village named 'Chafi' comes after Khutani, is one of the beautiful villages in that valley (my favorite). The village is situated in a valley on a river (dont know the name but a contributory to Gola river). That's very picturesque. U could've clicked few pics there.

I think it was too much in a reply to your log . However, i enjoyed your log.

                  Keep riding your R100.
                  Happy riding.

[MENTION=32338]Sirish_G[/MENTION]: Chafi is indeed very beautiful in itself but as I have seen it so many times it just not hit me to capture it that time, also the route beyond padampuri was also new to me so covered the known places in a hurry( generally I stop every now and then to capture something) [emoji4]

The roads from khutani to padampuri were not-so-good that time also and after the rainy season I can imagine the condition !!!

BTW where were you going last week???

I went to a village 4Km ahead of Dhanachuli Bend, on Seher Fatak-Lohaghat road. It was a family gathering.

                        Well, leech attacks are scary.

                        Harela's colors are good.

Rest all log is good man. I liked your village and the way to Babiyar. I'll explore there next time. That entire valley from Padampuri is beautiful.
