Re: Exploring the ancient architecture of Hampi, Karnataka

I forgot to share an incident which happen at the parking of Vittala Temple. while we where gearing up to leave for Badami, few girls, who were from Bhopal, came to us and started talking about where are we from and whether we ride all the way to Hampi!. They were surprised to know that we ride all the way from Pune to Hampi in oa single day and we regularly do such kind of rides.
People respect serious bikers and with all the riding gears, bikers become easily a point of attraction. Even at Hampi, a French guy came to us to talk about our rides and Riding gear. He did mentioned that in India it's very hard to find people riding motorcycle with that riding gears on.

Nice T-logue with adequate narration and more than adequate pictures (most of us want this!!)

Overall it seemed you had a great adventurous experience...

I agree the part where you talked about people respecting people with proper riding gear... At the end, this gear is what separates riders and bikers... People in India also started understanding this and their curiosity is always a boost for us...

              Faaantastic man

I was in Hampi on the 25th and 26th December 2015. I had also been to Badami, Pattada kallu and Aihole on 24th before taking the bus from Bagalkot for Hospet.
I went Hampi for the second time - it was simply not possible to see and soak-in everything in a day.

I bicycled from the Hampi Bazar to the Vittala Temple complex. But on my way near Bhima's gate, I met another rider who told me that there is a Rama temple on top of a hill where the Ramayana is sung 365 days of the year! I just had to go there! What a fantastic place that was! Just 4km from the Bhima's Gate area. I would have never known about this if not for that dude. So, stranger rider, if you are here, thank you and a massive shout out to you!

I came back on the road to the Rama temple and cycled to the Vittala temple, crossed the Tungabhadra river on the boat and cycled in Anegundhi. There was a boat in Anegundhi to nava-something (a place where 9 gurus are buried. I don't remember the name of this place). This was fantastic too!

Oh man, I could go on and I would hijack your thread. Reading your post reminded me of all this. Sorry :P

              I had a fantastic time too! :P

Thanks for sharing your experience and making me reminisce mine.

The Indian Heritage Hampi is definitely one of the best places to be visited. Badami, Pattadkal and Aihole are beautiful places.

After going through the T-Log feeling like doing yet an other ride to these places.

Nice ride and narration. Thanks for sharing.

We were on our way to Badami on 25th Dec. And yes, no matter how many days to give, it's not enough.

One thing about mango tree restaurant, it used to be on the bank of river under a huge mango tree. It was moved to bazaar as archeology department had raised some objection. The old place was awesome, I used to travel all the way from bangalore just to spend time there sipping awesome lassi you will ever find.

Day 4: Visit Anjana Matha temple and Ride towards Damami

Without wasting any time in the morning we freshen up and started riding towards Anjana Matha temple. The temple was just around 4km ways from Taste of Hampi, restaurant.

                              Anjana Matha temple, Anegundi:

Anegundi is older than Hampi. It is believed to be the monkey kingdom of Kishkindha in the epic of Ramayana. Anjanadri hill, the birthplace of monkey-god Hanuman, and the mountain Rishimuka are the other places near Anegundi associated with Ramayana. It is said to have one of the oldest plateaus on the planet, estimated to be 3,000 million years old. So, only local story-tellers refer to Anegundi as the maternal home of Bhoodevi (Mother Earth). Anjana Matha temple is situated on top of the Anjanadri hill; one has to climb 600 steps to reach there.

                              Day 5: Home Run

We decided to start early next day. Rakesh and I wanted to head back home, while Anirban and Kireet wanted to take a halt at Bijapur. So after having a quick breakfast we spitted in 2 groups and started the Ride. As it was end of Christmas week, we knew the NH4 would be full of traffic. So we decided to NH9 and NH13. Roads from Dadami to Vijayapura was in good condition but after Vijayapura, it was 2 lane highway without divider. That 100 kms stretch will make you slow. But again once you reach Solapur, the roads are in mint condition. The whole point why we skip Bijapur was, we wanted to avoid crossing Pune City in the peak hr. and we were successful in doing that. We reached Hadapsar by 5pm and I was at home by 6pm.
