TOUR DE BHUTAN ,THE LAND OF THE THUNDER DRAGONS.

    23 FEB: TUESDAY-LATAGURI TO PHUNTSHOLING, (120 KMS) .
Cross over into The Land of Thunder Dragon, Phuentsholing city, Bhutan. Phuentsholing is the point of entry for travelers arriving to the town, It functions is primarily as a place where Bhutanese and Indians do business. The architecture is modern, and there is no Dzong(type of fortress architecture), famous monastery or in fact anything of particular interest to tmyists.(in short it is a place where you can shop and get the permits for entering Bhutan and get a 7 day permit ),Did Stay overnight at Phuentsholing.

24 FEB: IDNESDAY- PHUNTSHOLING TO PARO, (150 KMS).
Had to wait in the line to get the visa and road permits ( from 8 Am to 1 pm I was at the emigration office )Got my visa and road permits. I started my ride by noon. Ride all the way uphill to Paro, visited Rinchending Monastery , national museum, kichu lhakhang, Drukyal Dzong, Ringpung Dzong.

    25 FEB: THURSDAY- AT PARO

26 FEB: FRIDAY- PARO TO THIMPU, (65 KMS)
Ride to the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. The ride is just 65km and it takes approx. 1 hmy to reach. You ride through the fertile plains of Paro to have great views of the rich farms of terraced rice fields. All along you ride parallel to the Paro River and then the Thimphu River. I head to get my Visa and road permits extended(as I had planned to be there for more than 7 days). Did ride to the best view point in the Thimpu valley - the Buddha point (Kuenselphodrang). It is a short ride from the town. The largest statue in the world and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

27FEB: SATURDAY- THIMPU TO PUNAKHA, (100 KMS)

28 FEB: SUNDAY- PUNAKHA TO BUMTHANG, (210 KMS)

29 FEB: MONDAY- BUMTHANG TO MONGAR (190KM)
From Bhumthang, I heading towards the east. On the way to Mongar , I did cross the Tumsi La, one of Bhutan's highest road passes. During the =ride, i did observe the changes in the beautiful surrounding vegetation as i climb through the various climate zones. I did visit Ura, a village that is not typical for Bhutan. The houses are all built very close to one another, all facing in the same direction.

    01 MAR: TUESDAY-MONGAR TO TASHIGANG (120KM)
Today I was going to Tashigang via Drametsi. I did cross the Korila pass and wind my way through refreshing evergreen forests in the Yadi Loops. From the hot Kanglung Chu valley,I did ride up to the quiet little mountain town of Tashigang.

          Wow...

          Looking forward to more pics!

Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

To get a visa permit u need to have a local guide and a conmpany to get in till east of bhutan so the saddle bag was by default in the car. which was traveling behind me.

and there is nothing written in my write up that i was travelling solo.its a different country and you need to be safe.its good to have local person with u

both the tyres were different but close to stock. as the rear tyre size is bit odd and its hard to find it in the market.

Great to see your Solo journey on GT with no luggage. Will you please describe your preparation, packing, stays, difficulties and Tips? A Map also would help.
