I was in Bijapur and travelled south via shivmoga and passed by mangalore yesterday and now reached Ernakulam today

Started for Shivmoga by 9 am. But first i have to retrace my way back to Hubli. Thats good 200 kms. Going to Kerala via shivmoga and hills would have the horrible Karnataka's coastal road. Pretty uneventful ride till Hubli and riding all the bad patches in between and stopping for a clicks.

Got on to the GQ and it was all smooth sailing till Haveri. Coming back to south my bike feels at home and 110 and 120 is quite comfortable now and ride out pretty good pace. Of course have to deal with the bad unfinished patches of after Haveri till Davangere. Reach Harihara by 3.30 and have about 80 kms to shivmoga. Get of the GQ and it was a pleasant ride on the hills. Some bad patches thrown in. The panniers have withstood ladakh but now KA bad roads are a challenge to it.

Make it to Shivmoga 5.30 and settled in a comfy hotel at reasonable price. Nothing much to right about today.

Tried out a Bokeh after i made them leave my bike But missed the flash in my cam


Have to wear rain gear... Parking on the right side of the road so that i can use the gentle slope of the road towards the center. If i park the bike on the left side, i would just tip over!

It was great to meet up with you on Saturday! Your journey continues to inspire me, and my friends here who know about you. It was an honor to catch up with you on the day for lunch and ride with you for a short distance.


This is how the day went:

Praveen had called me on the previous day and confirmed that he would be passing through Mangalore sometime on Saturday noon.

I was at the RTO finishing up some paper work for my 1973 Jawa as he called and he said he's on the outskirts of the city. It was 1.30PM. Gave directions to a restaraunt known as Chefs and we met up in ~20 mins.

Had a good discussion with him, sharing my experiences and listening to his. It was exciting to meet him. We had a good lunch on some Thai Style burgers, Chefs is well known for its burgers!

Abhishek xbhp id: Abhishek Murudeshwar; joined us during lunch and we had a great time chatting and after we finished we took some pics outside Chefs and Praveen got ready to leave by 3PM and Abhishek left to finish his work at his office.

We fueled up at the nearest IOCL outlet and rode together for a short distance and finally saw him off at Thokottu, which borders Karnataka and Kerala.

It was great to see the amount of luggage being carried on the Zma. I was thinking of a similar setup on the R15 and the kind of work that would be required to get that done... for some serious touring. Maybe someday in the future.
