At 3 Pm we started rolling from Delhi, Since 15th was public holiday and also the Odd-Even formula of CM of Delhi started, we faced less traffic and were off to Ghaziabad via India Gate.

By 1700 hrs we had crossed Meerut bypass and were on Toll road till Khatauli.

The route we had decided was not the conventional Delhi-Rishkesh-Devprayag-Rudraprayag-Joshimath-Badrinath but we took the following route- Delhi- Meerut bypass- Khatauli- Bijnor-Najibabad- Kotdwar- Landsdowne-Srinagar-Rudraprayag-Chamoli-Joshimath-Badrinath

So by 6 in the evening we had crossed Khatauli and were on the way to Bijnor, while cliking these images of the stopover after continously riding from Modinagar.

Now after the short break we started rolling on the state highway which was in really good condition and we were able to cover good speeds till Najibabad and Kotdwar.

By 2030hrs we crossed Kotdwar after getting the bellies of our's as well as our machines filled.

Destination for the day for somewhere on the way to Landsdown, and the place where we thought we would stay was full, then we enquired about the places nearby and we stayed at Sadbhavna guest house on Pauri road.
We reached the place in the night @2120 hrs

Signing off the day with the last pic of our machines before heading towards the room.

PS: As with all other long trips, you don't take pics on day one or even if you do you click less pics in comparison to other day.

All the pics clicked by Phone camera, the magic or better quality pictures will flow from the second day onwards.

With the thought of reaching Badrinath and clicking the pictures we set the alarm for 6:30 in the morning and slept, only to find out what surprise Day 2 had in store for us.

After getting ready we left for Badrinath without having breakfast, thinking as soon as we start and reach a little town we will stop for breakfast.

Then as we crossed 19 kms we reached Satpuli and as I was leading, i stopped at a place where I saw eggs kept outside the shop and we had omlettes with sweet buns and Tea.

Time taken for breakfast break was 30 mins.
After enquiring from the shopkeeper about the roads ahead we started only to stop at the main market of Satpuli to get the Horn of Bull baba repaired.

So after some 30 mins or so we finally started at 9:30 from Satpuli and with the thought of not stopping regularly for the photography break we started and our main motive was to reach Badrinath before the Sun goes down.

We stopped in between for lunch somewhere before Rudraprayag and started at 2:45 from there after a good 40 mins break.

Destination was still 160 kms away and our bellies were full but our Machines needed fuel, so we stopped at Gaurchar to get the bellies of our machines filled.

Continued till Joshimath and got the Top up of our bikes done.
            Now the surprise starts,
As soon as we left Joshimath for Badrinath, Time was 6:30 in the evening and still 40 kms to be covered, we started and left the town, only to find out we two are the only persons going towards Badrinath, we were scared and also afraid of what if we are not able to find any accomodation at Badrinath, still we continued only to find out the bigger surprise waiting for us to regret the decision of coming to Badrinath.

            Pics for the Day!

A guy comes from the check-post saying we cannot go ahead.

                We asked why?
He said- Do you have permission from SDM Joshimath?

                We thought WTF

We said we want to go to badrinath and did not know that we are required permit for it.

He said, since administration does not allow anybody to stay there for the 6 month, when the yatra is closed, we cannot go ahead untill and unless we have the permit from the SDM office.

We thought what bad luck, So near, yet so far.
I guess it was our very own mistake of not enquiring about the permits, thinking since the season is closed we can simply go to the mandir and head towards Mana and get clicked with the Last Indian Village signboard.

So since the time was almost 1915 hrs, we left the place and started for Joshimath.

After reaching, found a good hotel and headed towards the main market for the Dinner and then retired for the night.

Pics for the remaining part of the day.
