Chennai - Yelagiri
If you are searching for a place engulfed in silence and peace then Yelagiri in Tamil Nadu perfectly suits your choice, providing you cool and calm atmosphere all year round.
Yelagiri is actually a cluster of small villages, spread around hills. There are many tourist attractions here like a beautiful and charming lake, Mughal Garden around the lake, Velavan Temple and a children's park. But the real charm of Yelagiri lies in its calmness and uniformly pleasant weather.

As we planned and gathered at our friends home at numbal on 27th night. Had nice dinner and got to sleep after a long chat among friends. We got up early at 5Am and get ready for our trip. Finally we are ready to start the trip by 5.30Am.

when we came out, that day gives us a great surprice. Unexpectedly there was a heavy fog on that day and the roads were not visible even beyond 10mts. On the other hand we are lucky, we had a chance to ride on nice fog. We stoped at a tea shop nearby and refreshed ourself and discussing about the fog'y road. It was nice to see the roads with fog but we cant able to drive with the visor closed helmet, everyone was advised to take off the visor untill fog clears. Our journey starts ...

After some relaxation our journey starts enjoying the road... then reached ambur around 9.00 and searched a hotel for breakfast.. finally found a good hotel just right turn from ambur signal...

The hill road was good and all our bikes started climbing one by one and enjoyed the hairpin bends. There was a bus service names yelagiri Express, we saw the bus climbig the hills hairpin bends easily.. as the driver had good experience in this hill. Total 14 hairpin bends are there to reach yelagiri, all the bends are named with tamil poets. On the way we stopped many times to enjoy the scenic view of city.

Once started from this view point the ride was very good... at most we near the yelagiri..... but...

one of our team mate give a mark on road for our memory... he doesnt want the mark only on road, ofcourse he got two stitches on his chin. Then reached our Lodge named VSK lodge, Nice to stay there, Reasonable price and the food was very worthy. They are not having restaurent if you order they will get it for you. They arranged for food, firecamp etc

Then we finished lunch in out lodge we had a small rest. Atmost all of our team slept except 2 guys. and then started out local trip. Yelagiri hill was beautiful and lot of smal villages are there. We had a smal halt in a small rocky place ...

There was a small lake, there we asked for self rowing and enjoyed boating there...

After boating we planned to return to our hotel. On the way we saw the villagers celebrating a festival. Its very different, they pray for god and its quiet interesting.

Finally reasched our hotel and take some rest. After some time we are ready for dinner, fire camp was arranged in our hotel and food was also arranged there.

After dinner with fire camp we got to sleep. Next morning everyone got ready by 9am and check out the holel. We started our journey, we planned to go to jalagambarai falls. Before that we finished our breakfast in hotel yelagiri.

After breakfast we started climbing down the hill. We enjoyed every hairpin bends.

Once reched the bottom of the hill we took the thirupathur road, after a 5km drive there we took a left turn for jalagambarai falls, the road to the falls was very good and enjoyable. Mountain view roads with farm lands, sugarcane farms, coconut trees etc on both sides.

One the way we found a beautiful spot, sunflowers on both sides with hills at background. we enjoyed the place very much.

Enjoying these places we reached the jalagambarai falls, the way to the falls was good, we have to climb up via steps. Once we reach the top of falls we are dissapointed because we found nothing except the following pond

Yes there was no water in the falls. Anyway we enjoy the location and scenary.

Windup from jalagamarai and planned to return chennai.

While returning we stopped at a place and had sugarcane juice.

Came back to NH7. Put some fuel to our bikes and continue our ride to chennai.

Finally get together in chennai at saveetha college and finished out journey. Really it was a nice trip...

Please Note :
1) Most of the forum says that there were no signal for mobiles, but for us there was no such problem, network was good, Mostly all important networks like Airtel, Aircel, Hutch etc working fine in the hills.
2) For liquor likers, a tasmac was opened there in the hill itself so no need to buy before climbing the hill.
3) There were no petrol stations in the hill. So try to fill required fuels before climbing the hill.
