It has 65 posts and over 1100+ views and increasing in the past 3 days! Pretty good activity considering its a touring thread!

@Silver : Keep your log on hold and lets compel the writer (Ajay sir) to script this log

Ajay, you are being watched. You are so much a silent member, I have to re think twice when you post (stormtrooper), which of course, is rarer than the blue moon!
If I am not wrong, Ajay is the only one I have seen writing logs while others seem to skimp on doing it. I have seen this happen in 3-4 trips last year (unfortunately, they r lost due to the server crash). I think this time, I want to see other non-writers chip in with their logs and make that effort.
Silver_falcon has already committed on writing them. So I am anticipating a good long narration from him. Perhaps Srikeerthy, Sunil, Summit and Prabhu can also chip in a bit?

Trip Log - Part-I
I thought I should at least start off the trip log although I'm not overly enthusiastic about staying back in office to type this. The Sennheiser in my ears and Porcupine Tree will keep me going for a while though.
We'll, as few of you may already know, I graduated 8 months back and I'v been working for about 7.5months now and right from the day I started working it was my dream to do a 1000+ km trip. I had done umpteen number of long rides prior to this to Tirupathi ,to Calicut, Wynad, Coorg and of course uncountable other shorter rides, but 1000+ was still a dream. You may ask why didn't I do this when I was a student - there are quite a few reasons. Parents would never let me go on 1000+km trip. It freaked them out. Not like my 700kms trip did not freak them out, but I just forced it on them and that was the limit they could take. Moreover I had one major accident in the city, and i had a narrow escape and my bike took a whole lot of beating which required 16.7K to be fixed. And a lot of engine related issues for the next 2 months because even the engine had taken a huge impact. It was a head on collision with a car. This accident kinda taught me to be more responsible. I learnt to ride responsibly after that day. Not be a fool. My parents had this in mind too.
On one of the sprints to DD Hills at night along with Navnish, I discussed a plan to do a long ride. Finally decided to make the coming up 3 day weekend the ultimate weekend. Called Navnish and told him the plan to which he agreed immediately (which is what kinda surprised me
). The plan initially was me and Navnish ride to Kottayam, Munnar, stay at uncle's house amidst rubber plantations and return. That would be a total of about 1400kms. Then,a few days later, I met Sumit, told him the plan and he immediately responded that Prabhu and me have a similar plan, lets do this. The final plan then was Navnish, Prabhu, Sumit, Jenson and me go for it. We'll, when Navnish ditches you, he ditches you on the face
. One message which said he cant make it. After that he disappeared off the face of the earth. Did not pick up any calls or respond to messages. We'll thats ok.
The plan initially was to leave on Friday afternoon since Prabhu had some commitment. All of a sudden, Sunil sir call's me up the day on Wednesday and gives me an updated plan. Leave at 10pm on Thursday, stay at Coimbatore, leave the next day to Munnar,Day2 in Thekkady and final day, ride back. We'll of course plans can never remain the same when you have a 8 member group.
Thanks to Akhil and Diehard a.k.a Ankit for providing me with Saddle Bags and riding gear. Akhil came to my office to drop off the saddle bag. Thanks both you guys.
I found myself getting ready with 7 other bikers in front of Silk Board, ready to roll at 4.45 am on Friday morning. 3 Comets, 2 Zma's , a Tbird, FZ and my 200, we all stood in one line.
Started at 4.45 am with speeds between 60 and 75.All the bikes equipped with HID blarring away putting the truck drivers to shame. It felt like bliss then, I was going on a 3day tour to Munnar. Felt beautiful.
As daylight broke, many of them stopped to click pictures and average speeds slowly started to climb. It was absolute bliss to be cruising in one line wit all the others. I must say,its a different feeling to be riding in a disciplined group. It felt good at heart.
To be continued.....sigpic
