  • In search of unknown lands...

'In search of Unknown Lands' is a video series of all my unknown destination adventures. From my childhood, I have been exploring places to experience something new which I have not seen before. Which was not seen by many. To be precise, I want to go to places which are untouched by the mankind. Something original and natural! This also helps me get away from the boring and artificial city life and get in touch with nature where I feel belonged. Being from a small village, my love is always for something which is away from the city. However, there are times I even venture into the city just to find or experience new places when it's too late to go outside the city. I have wandered alone or sometimes with the friends who shares similar interest as me. Having friends who understand or long for what you love too is a blessing. And I have been lucky in that department. There is an old quote which I always say. To gain knowledge, either you have to read or you have to travel. Have read lots of books until I started working. So it's latter for me now. You don't need to go to specific destinations to find something beautiful. it is just around the corner. If you have eyes for it then you will find the beauty everywhere around you. So get out of your couch and explore!

I will start off with a random from the video which I made recently. Have been to tattekere with a couple of friends and we spent a decent amount of time chit chatting beside the lake. As a partner in crime, fellow rider, and my ex-roommate Canute was similarly interested to take part in my 'search of unknown lands'. So we set out from there keeping the map only for the directions so that we don't circle around the same place. Those offroad took us deep inside the villages and at times inside some abandoned private property. It looked real scary like in those Hollywood movies so we ran off from there in no time. I could only see directions in the maps but no roads. I knew it will connect to some road if we go towards some direction and eventually we did. But with trespassing!

Finding some remote village side hotel is one other thing I do on my rides. I don't know why but I never feel the taste in those Kamath's or Shanthi sagars like in those remote village huts.

Here is for you to enjoy as it happens.

I liked the video and your exploration.

Just wanted to mention one thing, I notice that you use clutch for coasting and braking on off roads. Please try to use engine braking all the time when riding off or on roads. Just a suggestion from my side for better riding practice and your safety.

Keep riding more and shooting such wonderful videos.

Superb mate! Superb! i also wander a lot of place with my soulmates (friends ) and we also look for some unknown lands.

          I loved those.

But one day when we were doing the similar things we came through some area where persons do some rubbish things (cant say in public) and so we were afraid since its a lonely place where no one comes human always search for privacy . and we were like running out of those places in no time and we landed in an unknown route into a vast land (at least open land not inside some forests ) since those persons were throwing beer bottles on us we escaped.

And one more incident was near Chennai where my grandfather lives in a small village even bus comes there twice a day . and it was full of forest after the village were road ends so we parked our bikes in my grandpa's house and started walking my grandpa warned about the forest (hehe we were ignited to go after listening).
after some distance we saw a small hill we started climbing and up above there was a natural cave farmed by three rocks, And S*I* we just saw 2 persons just banging a cat in those cave walls and one more was cut opening another cat and some fires were set inside the cave and it was me and my brother. we were looking at it both of those persons started starring at us LOL we were just walking like we never saw anything and ran to our grandpa's house in no time. (at the moment in night time we were so afraid to see those dark persons inside the cave)

Hey really thanks for noticing. I kind of use it all the time as you said for coasting. I was under the impression that engine braking is bad for the bike. Recently one other friend(after watching one of my video) suggested the same. I am trying to get rid of that old habit now and improving a bit. Initially I started to hold the clutch whenever I leave accelerator to avoid the jerk and I guess i got used to it.. Thanks for the lesson. much appreciated.

Man that was real scary. I always feel scared of running into something like that when I go to such unknown places and I am lucky so far. Recently I ran into two cops in civil dress near some forest. They got suspicious but let me go without any enquiry. I hope I will not run into any of those!

Your video reminded me of my teenage days, when I used to roam here and there on my bicycle. Although never had any such scary experience like some had here.

Re: In search of unknown lands...

This is the first of the series and I didn't even have the plan of making a series back then. Used to make this type of rides even before I bought a GoPro however even after buying one I didn't record for many months. One of the reason was at that time my concentration was only making the video of known places. Also, I was in my shy period to wear GoPro on my head and get stared at all the time. I wanted this type of rides without attracting any attention from the local. That's one of the reasons I was without jacket, slippers, half pant and no gloves. Kind of wanted to slip through the villages like I don't exist. However, it's not people I care much but also for the safety I let go of my shyness and start wearing riding gears for every one of them.

This was done around January of 2015(almost 1 and half year back), one of those days I felt like recording. Also, I was riding pulsar 150 then. Did some offroading almost inside forests, met a villager who gave me a nice lecture on silk worm farming also freaked me out from inside when he put those worms in my hand. Also witnessed a brutal (lol) accident of chicken and villagers gathered for the chicken rights. It was a great run for that evening.

This one was bit scary for me. I saw this small hill and kind of road track from the highway so turned my way towards that. The road which was almost covered in the sliding soil took until a small temple. I don't know why but that abandoned temple looked very scary. I tried to take a peek inside however did not make enough effort to put my head too inside the temple There was another small temple at the top and had a nice view of Bangalore city getting drenched due to thick clouds. Few other offroads led me to some dead end while the one straight inside a mango farm. Not sure what the two old aged men taking care of the farm thought, but they let me take a round inside the farm. I thought of getting out from the other end however it was dead end again. But got to see that jumping bunny though :P
