  • Jaisalmer trip - 10 bikes

The term desi here means Royal Enfield. Jaisalmer is an awesome place and also a gateway to the Indian desert of Thar, which is located right in the heart of the state of Rajasthan. There is no doubt that Jaisalmer is a very popular tourist destination and is flocked by national and international tourists throughout the year. It is very well connected with the rest of the country and can be reached by flight or train but I prefer road...

So we were a gang of 10 dudes and have planned a road trip from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer via road for which we hires 8 more bikes (we had 2). For those who wants to reach Jaisalmer by flight, the nearest airport is the Jodhpur airport which is around 300 km away from Jaisalmer. Thus a road trip from Jodhpur was inevitable.

So we drove by 10 am, after lunch and saw some amazing places on the road. Like 1st stop was Pokhran which is famous for its nuclear bomb test site. then we stopped at Ramdevara temple (very popular among locals) and finally reached Jaisalmer by lunch time. Road conditions are perfect...

At Jaisalmer there are several big and small hotels in Jaisalmer that provide good staying experience in the city. However, if you are visiting Jaisalmer for just two days on a trip, like us, you must stay ideally in a heritage hotel in the city that bears the symbol of the royal era. Some heritage hotels where you can stay put are Suryagarh, Narayan Niwas Palace Jaisalmer or the Fort Rajwada, which are all excellent regarding the amenities provided to their valuable guests. All these hotels are of course heritage and hence costlier but nonetheless they are all excellent in providing you with a fantastic stay in Jaisalmer. We stayed in fort Rajwada, know some guys here

There are lots of attractive tourist destinations in Jaisalmer that are worth exploring on a day trip to the city apart from the Thar dessert. So we started our day trip with the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, which is also known as the Golden Fort. When early sunrise light falls on the walls of the fort, it honestly looks like a golden palace which is why it is nicknamed as the Golden Fort.

Then we visited Gadisar Lake, which was originally a reservoir for the city. It is a huge lake that has several temples and other interesting shops on the shores of the lake.

And later we saw Vyas Chatri, which is dedicated to Sage Vyas, who wrote the epic Mahabharata. It is a cenotaph with some delicate carvings on the walls of the structure and makes for a beautiful sight for sure.

There are many heritage Havelis in Jaisalmer like the Nachana Haveli, the Salim Singh ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli, etc. that are each credited with their history and delicate carvings to call their own. All these Havelis hold a lot of historical stories with them which are equally impressive to hear. Make sure to visit these Havelis to relive the bygone era.

Now for the best part. Trip from Jodhpue to Jaisalmer via road was good as we ate at a nice dabha, saw some great places and road condition was good. But the road trip from Jaisalmer to Sam sand dunes was mind blowing. It was like we are in Dubai. There were sand dunes all over the place and those
Jaisalmer desert camps in sam sand dunes Sam are amazing. We stopped at a desert camp who have some awesome camps. I must say that they are the best jaisalmer desert tents in whole area.
Being in Jaisalmer, you ought to keep aside a day for the desert safari on the Thar Desert. You can either choose the camel safari or go for the jeep safari if you are not confident enough. Take a look at the desert life of Rajasthan and take back awesome memories with you.

      Nice narration!
Some snaps would have been better though!
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

        Where are the pics?
Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.
