Re: Nelong valley, Gangotri and a surprise trekk to Saat Tal
As one day public holiday was approaching on 7th of July and it was more than 6 months i have visited mountains, so plan was obvious to utilize EID holiday.
Applied for two days leave so that we have 5 days in hand including weekends to enjoy, we have contacted Tilak soni who runs adventurous trip and booked Shivlinga hotel at Uttarkashi.
We were four people with one Scorpio, bag packed on Friday night and we started our journey on Saturday early morning.
According to our initial plan we started at 5am and reached uttarkashi at 7pm
Our plan:-
Day 1 - [Delhi-roorkee- Haridwar- Dhanaulti - Night stay at Uttarkashi]
Day 2 - [Uttarkashi to Gangorti(Night stay)]
Day 3 - [Gangotri to Nelong and night stay uttarkashi]
Day 4 - [Return to Delhi]
but our plan changed and we added "Saat tal trekk" to our Day4 plan, Why we changed our plan is an interesting story i will cover it later.
Our first small stop was "Lower ganga canal", this canal is made on top of a river but i do not understand why it is called ganga canal as i do not see water in the river , there is an old bridge beside this canal which was made by British governor around 18th century.
lets have some pics.

Re: Nelong valley, Gangotri and a surprise trekk to Saat Tal
Around 9AM we started toward Haridwar via Muzaffarnagar
After Rishikesh it was raining heavily so we stopped at road side dhaba and had lunch over there
Route we followed is Haridwar - Rishikesh - Chinyalisor - Dharasu band and then Uttarkashi
We reached Uttarkashi at 7PM, due to long journey we decided to call it a day after a quick refreshmentEarly morning nobody was willing to leave bed but how can a nature lover miss a chance to capture early morning scene of green mountainSo around 6am I woke up taken some pics and again get into bed
After manual alarming by Shivlinga hotel staff we finally woke up, everybody busy doing morning things and after a heavy breakfast finally we packed our bag and started off for Gangotri
Our first stop was Gangnani where we stopped for couple of minutes to see hot Kund and had tea
We witnessed the beauty of Harshil, it was amazing exp too see such a wonderful place
we saw Bhaitogati bridge, Uppi told us its one of the highest bridge in Asia, road was not good after this stretch but who care about those small patholes if you are in SUV
Finally we reached Gangotri, packed our vehicle beside main gate and saw a Bhootiya dog, I bet after some painting job he will look like Lion for sure, you can see how much healthy he is
We checked in at Gangotri at Hotel Mandakini and it was nice, we had clear view of river and mountains from hotel balcony, kept our bags in the room and headed towards temple, weather was not pleasant for photography and we hardly saw Sudarshan peak because of cloud but enjoyed at river side and did lots of photography
It was getting colder but still we were waiting to take pictures at night and we did it

Re: Nelong valley, Gangotri and a surprise trekk to Saat Tal
Motorcycle is still not permitted in Nelong Valley so you cannot take the trip. If you want to you can go to Uttarkashi, park your bike and then take an SUV from there. As the roads are not paved inside and this lands under the inner line permit. So if you decide to by Motorcycle then there is no way you will get the permit as per the current situation. If by SUV you can go to DM office or else contact Tilak Soni ji at Uttarkashi.Originally posted by zeeshan300975 View Post@Neerajvayu did u guys go to Nelong valley ??? How was the road. I m planning a bike trip to Nelong. Can u pls guide me about how to get the permit.
Thanks
