My phone rang, it was my best friend calling at an uncommon time. I was a little worried, as he was facing some family problems of late. Also the time itself was enough to get worried for a normal day.
I picked up the phone and asked what happened? He, without any pretext asked let's ride tomorrow. I was taken aback at his proposal and agreed without much thought. He told me he would be arriving my home at 8:00am sharp. And it was 7:50 am, he arrived.
We decided to go on my new ride, 'Urja', as his fazer was facing some tire problem. And we started.

The ride destination was finalized on the way. We were going to Shukuria, a little known place, locally popular for its temple series, namely Anandamoyee Temple, Harasundari Temple, Chinnamasta Temple. Also the river Hooghly is just passing by, so was hoping for a grand view. The part of the road in Burdwan district was mostly uninteresting at its best. Just long highway with minimal traffic. But the road conditions in Hooghly District needs urgent attention as the G. T. Road itself was not smooth, a few potholes here and there makes the ride shaky.
The river greeted us as soon as we reached there. Took a couple of snaps and went on to the temple.

This temple known as Anandamoyee Temple is considered as the inspiration on which the famous Dakhineswar Temple was built. The striking similarity between them serves the purpose.

Built during 1814AD with the aid of the local Jaminder, this temple has 29 sikhars, which is something uncommon. The Bishnupur Shyamrai temple has 5 such while the Kalna Temples have 25. This temple has another speciality: it has two separate smaller temple series consisting of six temples each. The first of them have 5 sikhars, whereas the others are typical atchala type. A few snaps would make it easier.

Though the temples got a fresh paint, overall preservation is kind of poor. The left hand side temples are in dire need of renovation as the base of those are collapsing.Comparatively the right ones are better.
The terracotta ornamentations on the walls are noteworthy, but better implementations can be seen at Bishnupur or Kalna.

A beautiful view of the temple can be seen from the opposite side pond.

Rest after approval.....
