Myself n our friends were going on discussing for a Valparai Trip. My plan was to go on bike .... But my friends were not agreeing... So finally decided to go for a solo ride. So started on 12 Aug, took half day leave from office.. With the saddle bag packed in the morning , started my long journey from Chennai to Valparai.Tags: None

Re: Independence Day Ride ... Update after 2 weeks
Next day the complimentary breakfast guy woke me up. And it was 8am. 7 miss calls from my frnd who started from Kerala to join me. Called him back and he said he will reach by 10:30
So I got ready. He reached and we started to Valparai. On the way saw elephants and nilagiri thar. Reached Valparai around 3 and took room. The rqin welcomed us to the coffee estate of Tamil Nadu. Around 5 we started to Chinna Kallar but was stopped by forest officials as the day was closed. Went to Poonjollai. But the elephants played the spoil sport. Didn't get entry. Even I had to leave my tea as the elephants came up.

Next day started with 4 teas . Started to Neerar dam. Had to wait at the checkpost till the watcher came in the bus. Took the passes and reached the dam site . Went to Tunnel section and inside the dam. Thanks to Jamal bhai, who explained the history n animal sightings . Again went to the other end of the tunnel and had a nice lemon tea. Took 1 bag of tea and started again to Poonjollai. Again elephants became the villain. No entry.
Now started our next leg of our journey. Valparai to Athirapally. Started around 2:30 . Was in a rush to reach mallakapara before 4 as the forest official close the checkpost. Was able to reach by 3:30 though had to skip Sholayar dam on the way.
