Re: P2k = 3k
The Thruxton is a 1200cc bike with top specs like settings for road and sport, brembo brakes, showa forks, traction control etc, whereas the Ninja 300 just has the assist & slipper clutch. On this trip, the noticeable points were that the Thruxton has outright power in the low to mid range which is much more than the N300 and that is where it scores a big plus. So when both bikes take off say from a toll booth, the thruxton is able to quickly get the rider back to cruising speeds with the Ninja taking a little more time to do the same.Originally posted by PravStar View PostSuper trip paaji. How is the performance of your ninja 300 as compared to the thruxton ? On INDIAN conditions basically.
The Ninja big plus point is the ability to continually do say 130 to 140 kmph with less fatigue on the rider compared to the thruxton as the faring on the Ninja comes into play and aerodynamics are better. Heating issues are less in traffic or slow moving areas on the N300 due to the heat dissipated is from below the bike whereas the truxton not only heats up faster but also builds more heat due to the sheer size of the engine with heat dissipated around the rider as it is a naked bike.
The Thruxton has a better height or ground clearance when compared to the ninja and coupled with top-of-the-line forks and rear suspension make speed breakers a non-issue to go over. The riding position of the thruxton is more aggressive though when compared to the Ninja which is a little more upright. Sorely missed on my N300 was a better seat and I am actively pursuing a gel seat to install for future rides.
The N300 is lighter than the thruxton by about 30 kg. Even though this particular thruxton had got an expensive anti-puncture treatment done, the N300 has the usual tyre sealant which keeps tyre punctures at bay. Luggage options are better on the Ninja when compared to the thruxton. Both bikes have got good lights if one has to ride in the night. For instance, there was a time when we had to ride past sundown till 9 pm from Madurai to Kanyakumari and we used to pull up together, where stretches on the highway allowed, and with both the bike lights on, the highway was well lit up allowing us to safely cruise at 120 kmph.
In summary, both bikes performed excellently and without any problem in our Indian road conditions over varying terrains and conditions.Ride To Live
