    Hi Guys,

Just came back from another exciting trip. Here's a kind of trip log.

I was supposed to ride to this place called 'Mori' which is 150 kms from Mussoorie. A few kilometers down 'Mori' there are 4 camps situated besides the river 'Tons' which is one of the tributaries of the Yamuna. I was working in one such camp for around 12 days.

The original plan was to get up at 4:30 AM in the morning and reach 'Mori' the same day, but due to some un-aviodable circumstances I slept that night at 4:00 AM and got up at 1:30 P.M. So I decided to break journey at Mussoorie.

Left Meerut at 2:00 PM, going through the usual route, Muzzafarnagar bypass, Rorkee bypass, saharanpur bypass, at Dheradun, took at right for Vidhan Sabah and managed to bypass the city as well. Reached Mussoorie at 7:00 PM and stopped for a night at a Hotel called the Padmini Nivas. Very nice place. But I got quite bored that day. All alone and there's nothing much to do at Mussoorie. Infact I find all hill stations quite boring, they're too commercialised and end up look the same loosing all their charm in the process.

The next morning I left for 'Mori' at around 8:00 AM. There is no traffic at Kempty falls in the mornings, so thats the time to cross it. There's a Petrol pump just before Nainbagh or Purola (one of the two, I can't remember which one) which is owned by Jaspal Rana. There's also a Petrol pump at Nowgaon. So one can re-fuel there. You can find telephones at all the villages but all the phones in this area are BSNL satellite phones which usually depend on the weather and may not work at all times. Also there is no cell-phone coverge beyond Mussoorie. Reached 'Mori' at around 2:00 PM. The ride was pretty tiring but the last one hour strech was awesome. Beautiful Pine trees abound the area and you have to be on the bike to enjoy nature to it's fullest. When I finally arrived at the 'Mori' barricade, I saw the 'TOns' for the first time. The white water immediately put a smile on my face. My stay there was awesome, went rock climbing, rafting, beatlling etc.

Headed back for Meerut yesterday morning at 9:00 AM. After crossing Nainbagh I could see a major dust strom building up in the valley, below one could see the majestic yamuna. The dust storm wasn't a local phenomenon as i had thought ealier. Beyond rorkee it started raining pretty bad but i pushed on. Had to make it home before dark. At one point there was a mjor traffic pile up, so i thought i would take my bike from the side of the road, things went well for a few metres when suddlenly i found the front half of my bike submerged in water. steam coming out of the engine! A few locals helped my pull out the bike. It started in one go. Thank god the cylinder didn't crack and thank god no water when inside the air-intake of i'd been done for. It was smooth sailing till the muzzafarnagar bypass which i slipped the bike while trying to get accross a car ... my fault, as i was on the shoulder of the road. But I was nearly staionery and was standing on firm ground while the bike gradually slipped below me. This happened at the railway crossing. I stopped there for a while. My first break. Had a 'bhutta', 2 'aaroos' and 2 packets of pop corn before pushing off on my way. Reached Meerut at 7:00 PM. In one piece!

Pictures to be put up soon. Also will be uploading some pics for the other topic i posted, '700 KM'

well actually the slip wasn't as bad as the part where the bike went into the water ... i should have swictched off the engine immediately, but i was slightly dazed by the situation and let it idle. i had a look at the engine and it was nearly fully submerged in water. i thought to myself, "dude, you're dead now". my main concern was the cylinder cracking, coz i'd ridden for so many hours and the engine was nice and warm or rather hot! thankfully the intake to the air-filter is at quite a height to the ground, so unless you submerge the bike completely till the seat, i guess there's no worry of water entering the engine.

the slipping bit wasn't that bad. the bike was nearly stationery and then suddenly i felt my left leg slipping. so basically the bike went down very slowly and gracefully with me standing at the end of it ... i think all that happened was a slightly bent clutch lever, which i shall replace as the next service ...

pics i shall mail today evening to sunny. gonna connect my scanner now. feeling very lazy!

one of the biggest mistakes i made while i was camp was to ride a friends bullet electra. 2002 model.

words can't describe what i felt. i haven't ridden many bikes. a short trip on an eliminator, a honda sleek and probably a few more. but nothing comes even close to the bullet. the brilliant exhaust note. amazing quatities of torque. i climbed up a decent inclince with a pillion in 3rd gear! the seat comfort, again brilliant.

the sound of the engine is nothing less than music. one can reduce the idle rpm down to nothing. you can hear the sound of the rocker arms. valves opening and closing. amazing!

while riding back from camp, i was curing myself to glory for buying the karizma. why oh why hadn't i test driven the 500 or the thunderbird. then after 10 hours and a very sore butt i decided that i would sell my bike ... but the next day better judgement took over.

              anyways ...

i have been hearing rumours about a 500 cc thunderbird being launched septermber "last" year. still no sign of it? any idea guys? also a 624 cc version. what are reml's future plans?

                Nikhil,
That is true but let me tell you something if ever it stops - You will curse forever for buying this elephant baby. I know it has tremendous pottential but have to be equally strong and good with driving it.
Besides you can never compare bullets with any other bike.... they are 350,500+ CC bikes and you just have a 225CC bike so cope with the facts of the power and torque...
Goodness grace you still should say - you have ample of power. So live with it ans feel the triumph in having what you got.
Sorry Dude no updates about the launch of the bikes from reml's though you have yamaha Fazer coming out soon.

hmmm, the karizma beats the bullet in power/weight any day.

the bullet is mechanical art. it's not a bike, it's an experience!

the next bike i buy would most certainly be a bullet!

whats the fazer's price gonna be? hey is the drag star on the road yet?
