Re: Adventurous Ride To Leh Ladakh On Hero Splendor with my wife.
Your tlog is fantastic. And even all comments left here by others are awesome. Keep it up!
1. After having all good and bad experience, will you go again or recommend others to go to leh-ladhak on their 100cc or 125cc bike? with or without pillion.
2. Did you reward the safadargunj guy for returning your bag as intact as it was? This guy carried your bag all the way to delhi and tried calling you multiple times. I trust him, but also curious why he didn't approach police station there. Is that because he was in doubt whether police will properly handover the bag to rightful owner or not?. Just curious, you had a pillion rider then how bag fell and went unnoticed?
3. Is removing air filter for too long not dangerous for engine that too on muddy, slushy & ,water crossings, off roads and rough terrains?
Please answer if you have time.

Hi, I am happy that you liked the my tlog and all the thanks to you and others for commenting and appreciating our ride.
1) Yes Always because i believe "Its not what you ride but its what you ride for" infact I am planing to got umlingla pass next year on a 100cc bike. :P
2) The Guy who returned my bag was on his 3rd trip to leh (first with his wife) and was from Rajasthan, He knew I am from Delhi (may be because he saw us on our bike with Delhi number or may be because of the documents we had in our bag) and that's the reason he kept the bag with him as he had to cross Delhi to reach his place. I tied the bag at the back and whether conditions while we were riding up were not good, coz of snowfall and low visibility. my wife was actually more focused on the road than the bag as she was worried what if bike slips or i lose control etc. (Which is normal as she fears from height). you may check the video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6iv6wxPUNo ... The guy returned the bag was in ford endevour (jump to 6:12 minutes to see his car passing us in the video)
3) Yes removing air filter does affect the engine and is dangerous too - I only removed the cover of the air filter and that Worked for me. Also I got the carburetor tuned from a mechanic leh so all went well.Last edited by Pawan Shakya; 12-14-2017, 02:28 PM.Pawan Kumar Shakya

Re: Adventurous Ride To Leh Ladakh On Hero Splendor with my wife.
Thanks for replying. What you have done is really praiseworthy and you are now planning for new world's highest motor-able road Umling La, Hats off to you bro
Do you or does anyone here on xbhp has any news whether BRO has moved/shifted those yellow board from Khardungla to Umling La that says " HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD IN THE WORLD" or are those board still there in khardungla? I am asking this because onwards people will not be able to take photos/selfies at khardungla with that pride yellow board.

Re: Adventurous Ride To Leh Ladakh On Hero Splendor with my wife.
Kudos to your spirit Pawan. You have inspired lot of people here ( including me) with your adventures ride.
I have done ladakh on 125cc bike. Now planning to do some short bike tours with pillion. I wish to know which saddlebags you have used during your ride and how comfortable was pillion after fastening saddle bags to pillion seat.

I used Royal enfield's saddle bag it was pretty comfortable for the pillion. May be because of splendor's comfortable seat.
My wife never complained about the problems in sitting after fastening the saddle bag.
This is the bag I used - it is available on RE's website..Pawan Kumar Shakya
