Toddler now...
Hello everyone...my previous" Baby Steps" thread has been dead for a while and so are my plans to go out if the country...at least for another two three weeks it seems..hence with good behaviour and some logic based tantrums I managed to let wifey annule the "don't ride the devil back to Noida" promise...so I am on my way to Dehradun right now...shall reach by the night and then tomorrow ride back to Noida...so excited at the prospect that forgot that this is the Kanwad season here in the north and there is some crazy junky crowd loose on the highways..managed to catch a bus taking the karnal, paonta sahib route to doon...wondwring if should take the same route for riding back too...but I am not very familiar with it and will be riding solo...so weighing my options...kindly suggest if you have faced this any time...thanks...shall try to write about the trip though

Re: Toddler now...
Travelogue Approved
Your trip couldn't have been more perfectly timed
Any particular reason you choose to ride to Doon? Much nicer roads in every other direction of NCR. Towards Himachal, Agra or even Rajasthan, barring the terrible traffic till Jaipur.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

The ride from Doon to Noida was fun in most parts. I took much longer than expected but it gave me the much needed quality time with her😍😍

Re: Toddler now...
Hello everyone...sorry for sleeping over the above till now...ok so the journey to Doon from Noida was quite hot and humid. I was hoping to catch the AC bus from a stop at Mohan Nagar in GZBad but due to the Kanwad issue the route was closed and buses were only available from the ISBT. I asked about from some "reliable" persons around and they suggested I take an auto rickshaw to Anand Vihar ISBT. I did that only to realize that the buses to Dehradun run from ISBT Kashmiri gate. So took another auto to reach there and then due to the delay took the first available bus to Doon. It was the first time in the last 10 years that I was taking a bus to Doon hence I was quite excited about it.Originally posted by sajalsheth View Post
As mentioned earlier the usual route ( Meerut Mzfrngr Roorkie Doon) was kind of blocked so the bus took Sonipat Karnal Yamuna Nagar Paonta sahib route which was a good chance for me to assess riding conditions for my return trip.
Reached home around 2100 hrs and came to know that mum was out of town on a road trip with her friends from the colony and it was just me and Pitaji at home. Since it was late we retired to bed after dinner and some chit chat. The plan was to start early next morning so I checked my riding gear, charged my sena bluetooth headset before going to bed.
Woke up late and could only get myself and the bike ready by 10 am. Here is the pic of the devil ready to leave

Dehradun is quite a pain in the backside as far as commuting is concerned and I faced very slow moving traffic right until the Shimla bypass road. Even though there was no traffic on that bypass road I simply couldn't speed up due to numerous "rumble strips" haphazardly constructed on it. It is quite a task handling these stupidly constructed strips specially on my XDS as the suspension is quite stiff and multiple bumps tend to throw the rider off it's seat. There is another unique characteristic of the roads in and around Dehradun known as a "Rapata" in local language. The road follows the contours of the terrain and is sunk deep in certain areas. Rain water and seasonal rivers wash over these Rapatas and the road is submerged. But the weather and the scenic beauty of the route made up for all the bumps and I thoroughly loved the ride. Stopped at a roadside dhaba to take a break and some pics

From here on the roads were a delight and there is so much natural beauty all around. Passing the Vikasnagar barrage and then the road until Paonta Sahib made me push the bike a bit even though the scenic beauty wants to make you stop every five minutes.

I didn't stop much in between for pics as I trusted the Sena 10C camera to do its job and took many pics and videos from it while on the move. It seemed to be set at a wrong angle as I realized after downloading the pics. Sad.
I had to pass through the town of Yamuna Nagar a bit and it was quite a busy stretch. From here on I found the Kanwad guys on the road but thankfully no trouble. I even stopped to chit chat from some of them and took pics but they didn't come out that well. They kept asking me the price of the bike and one of them seemed to know quite a bit about it. He commented that these bikes are available on rent of 200 rupees in delhi.[emoji4]
I had sugarcane juice with these guys and then moved on...once I passed Yamuna Nagar another small town named Indri took me by surprise because if it's fantastic roads. I touched 170 kmph in this stretch just to get the juices flowing[emoji4] .
I had planned to stop at Karnal Haveli for lunch but I missed the exit and didn't feel like turning back. I had about 90 kms range remaining as per the display and thought of finding a place that had 95RON fuel. Sadly since I got the bike I have been unable to fill up this grade and been using Power and Extra Premium. Even after enquiring at two different gas stations I couldn't find 95 and hence filled up Power. Asked the guy for options other than Haveli for lunch and he suggested Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba in Sonipat. It was another 50kms from there and I thought of doing a quick dash in this stretch. The highway in entire Punjab Haryana belt is amazing with disciplined drivers(mostly). So I consistently clocked 140 kmph for the next 50 kms and had a break I much needed.

I took a longish break here and spoke with wifey for a while. The food was ok sorts though the lassi and the ambience was amazing. When I can out to take the bike from the parking I found a bunch of guys and girls around it taking pictures while taking turns flinging a leg over it. Seeing me in my gear they clicked a group selfie with me and it was good fun. Though I instructed them not to try sitting on the bike while I wasn't around.
The journey beyond this was usual Delhi traffic and I grew a bit tired of people at every red light asking me how much did the bike cost me.
I reached home by 1600 hrs and I must say at the end of this trip I love the XDS even more than before. It is such an eager machine. No matter what I ask it to do, it does it with amazing ease. And is always asking to do some more. Wow...looking forward to some more amazing trips. Till then thanks for reading this[emoji4] .
