    Goa day #1

We were in Goa and having a blast. On the night we reached we just relaxed and decided to plan out what we wanted to do. All of us had diffrent ideas but we all agreed that we came here for the sandy beaches and that should be on the top of our list. We all took a breather and had dinner and went to sleep. The next morning we got up and got ready, the first thing on our list was the beach.

Candolim was the closest beach which was within walking distance but we decided to check out other beaches too, my idea was to rent a jeep (While we all think Goa means rent a jeep and have fun, actually renting one is a pain. There is first of all the rental cost which is higher than any other form of conveyence. Then comes the fact that no one is willing to rent a jeep for less than two days! I mean why two days?). We of course couldn't rent one as we had only two days in Goa and didn't want the added responsibility of a jeep so we just went to the beaches on our bikes. We took Sahil's FZ250 and Ajay's duke 390. The duke may be an able highway bike, but it is not a good city bike (especially at speeds lower than 50kmph, it's just clunky and lugs like crazy) the Fz25 however is the opposite (it may have 20bhp and 20Nm of torque but it feels too strained past 80kmph, but in the city it feels at home). We went straight to Candolim beach to relax and took some pictures too.

The scenic beauty of the beaches are a wonderous thing. The cold wind and the feeling of the water touching our bare feet (fair warning: Taking DSLR cameras to the beach is a bad idea if you're afraid of moisture, the wind itself has plenty of that). The beach was open as I had predicted, only going into the water was prohibited because of high tide warning. The shacks were open and in business, also plenty of foreigner tourists ).

We spent a few hours on the beach just having fun. Then decided on lunch. We ended our day on a high note and decided to split the fun over the two days instead of powering through it. Come nightfall we set out on foot to find dinner. The night streets were lit!(we had to wait a bit to take this pic as the traffic would not thin out and the headlights obscured the image).

We found a nice place very close to our hotel where we could have dinner and listen to great music while enjoying a nice quiet drink by candle light. After having our fair bit of fun and drinks we set out again on foot for candolim beach to enjoy the nice breeze (we didn't really venture close to the water as the tides were too bad and also because we were buzzed). We had a lot of fun and just loved the ocean breeze at night.

In a few hours we returned to our room and just went to sleep (I know we sound like total geezers but it was past 1pm in the night, so judge us if you will).

    Goa day #2

The morning started the same as the day before with breakfast at the Lemontree hotel restaurant, with a fair bit of bird watching (wink, wink ) (Oh come on, we're bachelors, Honestly what did you expect? ) . The next destination was Sinquerim beach and a nearby fort. The fort I have to say was dud (too much crowd, filled with Bangalore locals with hired cars and scooties cutting through traffic like its Indira nagar) so we went there and seeing the crowd we decided to just skip it and go to Sinquerin beach instead.

The beach was a bit deserted by comparison. At some point in the past Sinquerim beach was probably a small port since we saw remnants of a port lookout which was still standing.

The walk on the beach was refreshing and we then headed out to the port lookout thinking of a probable photo opertunity. We reached there and realised no one was taking pictures and with obvious reason (The water was hitting the wall of the old construction and bouncing up and onto the people standing securely behind it). After an unxepected but delightful sea water bath, we all decided we should go back to the hotel, take a bath and head for lunch.

At lunch we tried the mackerel (which was a bit meh , but that is to be expected as I am Bengali-Konkani and had two Tamilians with me, suffice it to say that we've had better fish ).

Post lunch we decided on massages and then to enter the hotel pool because why the hell not. The massage was good but nothing to write home about but the pool was fun (I'm gonna spare ya'll the horror of seeing three guys bare all and post the most decent pic here, sorry about the nightmares just in case).

Come nightfall, we decided on a nice restaurant called garden..... something which was right next to our hotel for dinner.

The restaurant had great atmosphere, drinks, great food and best of all live performances. The artists performed very well and we all sang along. Me and Sarvajit had a lot of fun singing along to some of our favorite songs and in the end even thanked the artist. We decided to turn in early as it was decided from the beginning to one shot the journey from Goa to Hyderabad due to fast diminishing supply of leaves (Folks, if you're gonna travel. Please make sure you do it with time on your hands. Speed runs might seem a fun idea but they are hell on the mind and body).

    Goa D-day

We got up a little later that decided on the morning of 15th of August. Some of us had trouble sleeping in the night due to various reasons (All those who want to tour, It is my sincere request to you to get enough sleep, Riding sleepy is just as bad as riding while intoxicated). We were all ready and out the door by 7am, it took us a little longer to tie our luggage and warm up our bikes and by 7:30am we were on the road. We got out of Goa and reached the ghat section by 9:30am. The Ghats were really not that scary in the daytime although still wet and dangerous. we managed decent speeds of 80kmph all along the Ghats and reached the outskirts of Belgavi by 12am. We took it slow just to be safe and as me and Ajay stopped to tank up, the others decided to take a break and eat something. Sahil was told to push off home for reasons that will remain a secret in the best interests of all those involved, and me and Sarvajit crossed Belgavi on our own. Ajay caught up to us at lunch. We stopped a healthy 100+ kms from Bagalkote.

After lunch Sarvajit set his maps for Bagalkote and we reached and crossed Bagalkote by 3pm. We again stopped for a break after crossing Bagalkote and that is where we learnt that taking the straight road from Sindanur was a bad Idea and the beter Idea was to take the Ilkal route.

As you can clearly see that this was a straight road with no bad patches. If we had taken this route to Bagalkote and then to Badami on day 1 of our ride. We would have been there before nightfall or just as night fell.

Anyway, the ride from then on was pretty uneventful and we reached Raichur by 6pm, crossed Raichur and reached mehboobnagar by 8:30pm and stopped for dinner, then pushed off by 10pm and reached Jedcherla by 11pm. Ajay pushed off home on his own once we reached the airport road. Sarvajit and I split up after reaching Begumpet and I reached home after some loitering by 12:30pm. Thus our journey came to an end. With Happy memories and fun times.

I even got my bike serviced at my doorstep on the 16th. It didn't need anythjing major, the fluids were all good, the oil was healthy, I just got the breaks cleaned and chain lubed and tightened. Honda never seizes to amaze me. Felt like a king.

it's a RS200 visor, custom bracket mounted on the bike, I only use it for touring, the wind doesn't exactly hit me from underneath, but it certainly does the job of keeping the windblast off of me. I unfortunately don't have any pics and it's off the bike, I only use it for touring.
