  • [Photo Feature]: My Kolkata to Rajasthan and Back journey on Duke 390

On the 22nd October this year I rode to Rajasthan on my Duke 390. We were two people. With me was my old friend from school, Sourav Mukherjee. He was on his Yamaha Fz 25.

This is my first write up on this forum. Will share the whole story if this thread gets approved. For now just sharing the first of the video series created on this incredible journey.

Re: My Kolkata to Rajasthan and Back journey on Duke 390

On the 22nd of October, we started of our journey at 3.30 am in the morning. We both are pretty new to long distance touring. So I was somewhat nervous as well as excited for making the biggest trip of my short riding life.

Last year I had been to Delhi on a solo ride on my bike. It was 3200 Kms in 8 days. But this journey is nothing compared to that. Kolkata to Rajasthan is a more than 5000 Kms journey across 6 states of our great country.

      Day 1 of the trip

We took NH2. This was familiar territory from my trip to Delhi last year. But for Sourav this was the first time he was taking this route to leave West Bengal. So we had decided to ride at not more than 110 k/hr. First day the night halt was at Allahabad. The hotel was booked through yatra.com. I don't advice to stay at this hotel because it was pretty shabby. The accounts of this day were shared on my previous post on this thread. It took 17 hrs from my home in North Kolkata to the hotel in Allahabad. Total distance covered on day 1 was 825 Kms.

Day 2 - Allahabad to Agra

Next morning we started off from Allahabad at 8.30 am in the morning. Soon after starting we stopped for our first break inside Allahabad city only for some street side "Puri's and aloo-matar ki sabji". After satisfying our hunger we headed off towards Agra.

Fresh from the Kolkata to Allahabad journey of 825 Kms, we were making slow progress on day 2. Day 2 was no small distance either. GPS was showing 505 km to our hotel in Agra. The streets were infested with stray dogs and unruly local traffic crossing the NH without much attention to the high-speed ongoing traffic. Which in turn made us use sudden braking many a times.

The road was again familiar to me from my journey last year to Delhi. But dogs crossing the road and a few unfortunate ones lying dead on the road, you can never be familiarised enough to be not bothered by their presence.

Still at the end of the day, around 5 in the evening we managed to reach Agra. Our hotel was booked through yatra.com. It is called hotel Sheela Inn. This one I will recommend to anyone visiting Agra. It is situated 200 metres from the East gate of Taj Mahal. The room that we had taken was a non-ac one. But it was pretty decent. Clean, well lit and very cheap. It costed INR 770 per night. But if you are going there by bike, be advised they will arrange your bikes to be kept at a distance of 1.5 km from this hotel at their other hotel. This is due to the reason, you need to have a special pass to take your vehicle so close to the Taj. Which us tourists would never get. But the bikes were kept safe. We were satisfied.

          Day 3

On day 3 we were taking a break from riding. We decided to avail public transport to travel around the city instead. The places we visited in Agra were

          1) The Taj Mahal
          2) The Agra Fort
          3) Itmad-ud-Daula

Have look at Day 2 and Day 3 in this video

          Waiting for your feedback guys!

            Nice!
But, if you add some pictures in this log itself, it'd be great!

Photo feature without photographs ! Please add pics in the thread because people reading are unable to view videos in office - pictures are easier to relate with the text. The ride sounds good though !
