Day 4 (Hassan to Chennai) 550 kms

The plan for day is straight forward -> Go home :-) So lazily we get up around 8 am and packed our bags and came down to complete the formalities. In the basement of the lodge there was a veg hotel. We decided to have breakfast there itself. Again it was a typical South indian breakfast. By around 9 am we started our journey back home. Being a working day traffic was at its peak (where were these people when we landed here during the night). Crossed couple of signals and took a left. After a kilometer there was no roads, construction was going on. With doubts in our mind we went ahead, another 5 kms still not change. Stopped and waited to check with someone, found one elderly person and he advised to go back the same road and take the next left. So we come back in those tough roads and reach the junction again, wasted a good 45 mins there. Took the right road and turned left to join the Mangalore-Bangalore highway. It was a very good highway to go even with your eyes closed. We decided to drive atleast 100 kms without any break. Did a good 125 kms and took 30 mins break in coffee day. By the time we left coffee day, it was around 12 pm. Then we crossed Nelamangala and took the NICE road. Speed never went below 80 and we reached electronic city in no time. Traffic was at its peak till we entered Hosur. By around 2 pm we stopped at a petrol station attached with a veg hotel. Had meals and took a good 30 mins break. It started to drizzle. Got updates from chennai it was raining heavily there. Infact it was pouring from the day we left chennai. From then we did cover good distance and crossed krishnagiri, Vaniyambadi and reached Ambur. Sarav desperately wanted to have biriyani. So Vino and Sarav went and had biriyani in Star Biriyani, i settled down for 2 cups of tea and few biscuits. It was about to get dark, we started again and i was leading now. I did a got 30 kms and still couldn't see them both in my rear view mirror. Slowed the speed to see if they catch up, it was of no use. Stopped at the next toll gate and called them. Found The avenger did not start. Actually we had this problem right from the KA-Goa border, but a push would start the bike. But this time the trick didn't work and even a local mechanic couldn't solve it. They asked to wait there till they have some update. After another 15 mins called them and informed that i will go another 20 kms and wait in Vellore. In the meantime they have taken the bike to bajaj service center and the mechanic is looking into it. It was already 6:30 pm now. After another 15 mins received an update that the spare in not available and they cannot fix it today. Now the discussion was how to proceed further. Decided one will go by bus with the luggage and other 2 will go in my bike. So i need to wait till they reach vellore and proceed further. Got some snacks and settled on the platform of the highway. After another 15 mins got an update the vehicle is ready and they are going to start. Somehow some way they fixed it. Thanks to the guys in the service center they worked over their working time to fix our bike issue. All charged up with the good news, waited for another 30 mins for them to arrive. Close to 8 pm they came and met me in Vellore. Within mins we started and decided to go all the way to home. Ideally we should have been close to reaching home by this time. But thank god we didn't face this issue either on the first or third day night drive. Can't even imagine of that situation.

As we moved closer to Chennai, the rain started to increase and also the traffic. Soon we reached Poonamallee and went in different directions. As i went closer to MAduravoyal, the roads were pretty bad, infact at one place i literally couldn't control my bike because of the loose wet gravel, which was a tar road couple of day back. Potholes were every where and i was desperate to reach the maduravoyal to catch the bypass. Soon took the service road and in another 20 mins reached home safely. Reached exactly and 11:30 pm and got the update of others reaching home safely almost at the same time. The rain started to get heavier and was lucky to escape that downpour. In the end it was a satisfying trip and was happy to complete as planned. Our wish of going to Goa in one day was completed and also doing a 2K ride. Infact the final kilometer was 2112 kms. The added bonus were the west coast ride, Murdeshwar and relaxing in the Goa beaches. The 2 night rides were simply out of the world. I need to do a day ride in that same route to literally believe what i went through in those 2 nights. As always there were some learnings and more importantly the self belief went one level high. I believe this is the start of many long drive and also it doesn't need to be heavy machine to do long distance. Its how big your heart is that matters. It decides whether you succeed or lie flat on the floor.

Again this trip made me understand how strong you can be both physically and mentally. At home the current situation is don't use the word of ride until the mid of next year. They even don't know i am compiling this travelogue. But the heart always wants one more ride. Can't stop thinking of the next plan and ride.
Hope you all enjoyed reading this. Until next year, its thank you and bye to everyone in XBHP. Thanks for all your encouragement and appreciation, it really means a lot.
