            Re: 400 cc and 4000 kilometers ...

Recently had a official work at chandigarh and amritsar so was browsing the train schedules and local transportation methods over there and looking for time slabs to meet old friends ...Was discussing this with my friend in surat who owns a dominar which himself was planning a trip to his native and Gangtok ,he only suggested to make this trip a road trip to which I denied since my fz16 was asking too much expenditure on it ..Then he only suggested that why don't i take his dominar on this trip ,I was like " not a bad idea " ,so mutually we decided that he will return on 9th of november and I will start my journey from 10th or 11th but the plan backfired ...Reason was that my friend can't reach to surat (his base) on the desired date because he had some personal issues and the dominar surrendered (crank went kaput) and it was lying in a service centre in patna,I was very tensed for my future journey since with such a major work on the dominar will it survive was the question of the time. Still somehow he managed to reach on 15th night , parts for dominar were procured from ranchi and it took a week for the whole thing .

My earlier route plan was ..boisar-indore-kanpur-pratapgarh-lucknow-delhi-chandigarh-amritsar-ferozepur-sri ganganagar-pali-ahemdabad-boisar, which actually happened as boisar-ahemdabad-pali-ferozepur-jalandhar-delhi-udaipur-surat-boisar.

16th morning it was...The alarm went on time but I didn't and the result was that I stepped into the train after the luggage, plan was to travel till surat by train and then collect the dominar over there, somehow got into the train and half slept till surat.Reached surat and met my friend who was ready with the dominar and the g roller(he bought it on my suggestion) during breakfast we had a little chat about his journey and we were ready to roll to our today's target which was anything between sirohi or pali, left the city and at the outskirts had fuel and other necessities, the torque of the 400 cc engine was being felt from the start itself ,every was set and we easily gobbled up 100 plus kms in next one and a half hours.

                    Re: 400 cc and 4000 kilometers ...

Roads were butter smooth six lanes, reached ahemdabad quickly and missed somewhere due to the reliability of the gps so had to pass through the dense city , the cold was slowly creeping in and had regular tea breaks across the little dhabas (since they make the tastier ones)my companion vishal doesn't drinks tea so it was only my affair to look after that.

Dominar was munching the kilometres easily, we had a tank bag ,a trekking bag and a small airbag so it was a bit uncomfortable for both of us ,but vishal managed it properly since I was the one riding.crossing mehsana, palanpur we reached on the state border near amir gadh, next was abu road ,it was getting dark now and we decided to find a hotel within next 50 to 75 kilometers which we got, hotel priyanka it was situated on the highway itself it had a ample parking space ,the food was good and rooms were clean, the best price we got was 700 for the room, quickly we shifted our luggage into the room ,had some light food and retired for the day.

Day 2 : Got up early, shit shave and shower were executed ..Cleaned the riding gears once and loaded the luggage on the dominar ,had a small photo session in the parking lot of the hotel since it was adjoined to the highway ...The route now was more scenic as we were nearing to pali ,there were mountains ,tunnel and a very beautiful feeling of being lost over there ,crossed pali and reached jodhpur and again the gps misguided us and we crossed the city through the dense part of it ,well it was a beautiful site watching all the bsf jawans and army personnel in their full fledged uniforms roaming in the city with their arms and ammunitions.after jodhpur we reached bikaner crossing nagaur, nokha, deshnok etc, slowly it was getting cold and we had a meet with one of the relatives of vishal who were based in sri ganganagar..We had tea and biscuits over there and left for our next target that was "Hindumal kote" ....It is a small town situated on the indo pak border, it is a small town which was a main gateway for trade between india and pakistan/afghanistan which was disrupted later due to the tense relations between the neighbouring nations ...Yet we managed to have a tour at the actual LOC and saw some pakistani people visiting the same , had a long chat with a BSF jawan about their duties and the situation at the border ,since it was getting late we left the premises and tried hurriedly to make up for the time which we were short of reaching amritsar ,the roads were good but they were passing through extreme rural areas ...In between we decided to visit the current 'hindumal kote' station and we went there ,the station is now a route for some very limited trains and the last one goes till 'bhatinda' in punjab , had some clicks over there and continued our journey.

We were nearing the punjab state borderline now and it was very scenic ,there were green meadows running across the highway the roads were butter smooth and it was bringing a wide grin on our faces , passing through these we observed a very peculiar fruit same as orange , I was quite curios about oranges being grown in punjab so asked a local old man who was into the fields ..Then only he explained that it is 'kinnow' as called in local lingo, he even told that they are very raw now otherwise he would have given us a few of them ,such is the hospitality of locals across the country , we were moving a bit fast now since the sun has decided to retire now and slowly it was getting dark , had a mastt dahi bade and samose at a local dhaba and it was the tastiest one I have ever ate, a large glass of tea and a smoke and we were ready to move again ,slowly and gradually we were moving to the borderline but the feel of entering into punjab has already begun,my SMK TWISTER started giving trouble to me since the pinlock visor had lots of dust in it and the main visor was scratched too even when it was a new helmet which i got recently...Abohar,fazilka we crossed swiftly ...Ferozepur also we crossed ,plan was to visit hussainewala border bit we were late and skipped it ,it was extreme cold now ...Mercury came below 15 and on a motorcycle it was enough to make you uncomfortable , as we reached a place called "zira" from where I called my friend of amritsar that I will reach there a bit late , and the bomb exploded that he was not there but somewhere else ..I thought that now going to amritsar will be a waste and now we have to look for an another location ...The location which we chose we 'jalandhar' which was same distance as amritsar .
