  • Mumbai - Goa ride this coming week

    Hey all...
I'm thinking about riding to Goa this week, probably the 4th, early morning.
I've been to goa too many times to count, but this is my first RIDE to goa. Got a new FZ, clocked a little over 3000kms.

Anyone wanna join me? or at least give me some tips about the ride like how many times to stop...good places to eat on the way...what the scene is with cops...anything important to carry with me...besides bike papers (xerox's should suffice right?

Any other tips/advice would definitely appreciated...

1)Keep yourself hydrated.Drink lot of water & glucose.
2)Don't know how stable is FZ against strong crosswinds but you will face a lot of cross winds these days.
3)Stop at Chiplun or at Sangmeshwar(50-60odd kms from Chiplun) for food.Sangmeshwar has a petrol pump(HP) which accepts card and has a pretty decent food joint.

That's it wear riding gear and ride safe.Avoid tailing trucks so as to have a clear view of the road ahead.
And finally best of luck for the ride.

Those people who tell you not to take chances
They are all missing on what life is about
You only live once so take hold of the chance
Don't end up like others the same song and dance

all the best for the ride..

          as MG said..
          1) Keep urself hydrated.. the heat is immense.. we had some tough time fighting it while our recent Ganpatipule trip.

          2) Not much scene with the cops but be careful at the border. It's highly recommended that you carry all original papers including PUC. These cops need just a small reason to fine you.

          3) Be a little careful while passing through some villages like a. Chipuln b. Kankavli c. Sawantwadi. Espcially Sawantwadi. The raods are dangerously narrow and full of blind turns. People there ride/drive very carelessly.

          4) If you leave early monring then Chiplun is one of the best places for lunch breaks. There's one hotel called Ayodhya on the right hand side of the road. Amazing food at very affordable rates. I took the mumbai xbhp team there last time and they liked the food very much.

          5) Ideally take 15 mins breaks after every 1-1.25 hour stint. Good for the rider and machine.

          6) Lastly make sure u wear all the riding gear and keep ur cool on the road. You may find little more traffic than the usual as the holidays have just begun.

          Ride safe!

Oh nice...i have relatives in calangute, but this time i'm living with friends at porvorim.

n btw...considering i have tubless tyres...how easy will it be to find a 'tyre-wallah' capable of fixing a puncture? are the regular guys equipped to deal with punctures on a tubless tyre? My friend's carrying an extra tube itself for his pulsar...i obviously don't have that option
