  • Chanshal Pass - Less known Pass in himachal

    Hello ridermates,

I have recently completed 1400 kms solo ride on my Yamaha FZ-S in 3 days with my friend and visited chanshal pass on 31st March which is around 120 kms from shimla (H.P). A not much popular pass in himachal. Some of you might have been there and for some it might be a new name. So the route is from shimla to rohru and then you can go chanshal Pass. Roads are very bad and can make you dirty all the way you reach the top. Posting some pictures from there and it was a very scary experience while returning from pass to rohru as we reached there late in evening around 5:30 PM and stayed there till 6:30. Not much vehicles, slushy and icy rocky roads.

Hope you guys will enjoy pictures from the trip.Click image for larger version

              Hey riders,

Hope you all will be doing good and riding safe. Sorry for the last part mistake as it was written in a hurry. That could be considered as summary of the trip which i did from 30th March - 2nd April.

Me and my friend were planning for a trip from a very long time and it happened during my long weekend holidays from office. So now the trickiest part in this trip was that i was having holidays from 31st March to 2nd April, but my friend was only having those two days 31st and 1st. He lives in panchkula and mountains are not very far from his home.

              DAY 1 (30th March) #

I went office and left from there at 5:30 in evening and get my bike a wash before the ride, tighten the chain and other pre checks were completed. I tied my bag with bungee rope and wore jacket, gloves, helmet and leg guards.

Started from Gurugram faridabad road at 6:30 PM and without taking any stop in between reached pnachkula (290 kms) at my friend's home by 10:30 PM. Had my dinner and slept at 1 AM because in morning we have to head out towards chanshal pass.

              DAY 2 (31st March) #

It was lovely morning and we were fully excited to head towards our destination. Woke up and got ready by 6 AM and started from panchkula at 6:30 AM. We were like warriors with all over safety gears and those mountains were whom we have to take down. As the highway is being constructed in between so some very bad patches were there coming after the blind corners on which you may slip if not conscious. Reached solan and clicked some pictures. One of them is

Reached Shimla by 10 AM riding with short 2-3 breaks and yes shimla was crowded with tourists and locals from native place. Had breakfast there (one paratha) as i avoid having heavy food during trips.

Started from shimla again at 11:30 as i need to make some changes in carb of bike and changes the air filter too , crossing old shimla took route to rohru and the roads were mixed patch but most of times roads were like race track. Bike was now performing well as the optimum amount of fuel was being send to combust with low oxygen level in air.

After reaching rohru, i got my tank full again, had some water and chips. Now the snow laden mountains were seems to be so close that a new energy was restored in body to reach the destination. From tikri we took a right turn from market and travelled farther on very bad road - debris with shining sand and elevation was very high from there.

20 kms before chanshal Pass we took break for nature call and then had some rice with rajma (local food) it was for 40 rs. but worth it. Time was 4 PM and riders were returning back from that place and suggested not to go now there as dodhra is more 25 kms from there and no facilities available as it was a jungle area. But we were not in plan to go back from there, so we just finished our meal and started again for chanshal Pass and the road was getting more worse and with speed of 20-25 kmph, we were cruising and reached at the top by 5 PM. We were little unlucky as the National Ice skating championship just got over for the day but we reached the top and saw the view. I was not feeling at all tired after reaching there. View was mesmerizing Click image for larger version

After playing in snow and capturing glimpses of view, we planned to ride down to Rohru as the scene was getting dark slowly. Sun went down and no one was there while we are heading back on the road...neither a human nor a machine. I was lil scared as we have to approximately ride down more 60 kms.

              DAY 3 ( 1st April) #

It was day 3, bikes parked in parking. Woke up at 10 AM and took bath. Time for checkout from the hotel. We packed our stuff and took our belongings and came out and loaded bikes with our luggage.

We decided to go down hill as i planned to go towards rishikesh (Uttrakhand) same day but seems impossible as the distance from Rohru to Panchkula was 214 kms totally in hills and from panchkula to rishikesh was 200 kms more via ponta sahib. We started from Rohru at 11:30 AM. Travelled back with short breaks and lunch at shimla.

Reached panchkula by 5:30 PM and said bye to my friend from there and then again the journey started towards Rishikesh. It was getting dark and the road through which i have to go was single lane and very few vehicles were there on road by 8 PM. I was riding continuously without looking left right. As i was having only thing in mind was to reach Rishikesh as a group of my office friends were camping in shivpuri with a plan of rafting next morning. So i want to join them by night. But as always said its not necessary plans will always go according to us.

My phone holder broked near ponta sahib, it was a kind of national park through which the road goes, so i just kept my bike behind a taxi car and slowly cruised till ponta sahib and as i was riding solo now and time was 9:30 PM, parents were very much worried so i made a call to them that i am ok and will be reaching Dehradun after some time. Then from there i rode along with a uncle on bike, he was also going to Dehradun. Reached there by 10:30 PM and booked a room quickly from oyo rooms.

My alarm of 5:30 woke me up and i got ready for this day. Checked out from hotel and started bike and have to go Shivpuri nearly 60 kms from DDN. Had my breakfast and got ready for river rafting (16kms) one. I left my bike at the camp and luggage was in car. It was my first time for rafting, heartbeat was not normal at all...but yes collected all strength and signed the form with contact info. Did successfully completed the rafting. Went back to camp and changed clothes, started bike and came back to rafting end point as my other friends were waiting to change their clothes. It was a hot afternoon and we had our lunch near laxman jhoola. Went down to market and roamed on the bridge, bought some religious stuff and came back to parking. All were so tired but were relaxed as they have to go back home by car and i have to take my bike back to Gurugram. It was around 5 in evening we left rishikesh and started our journey back to home. A good 260 kms more to go.

But i was also very tired as last night i slept for 4:30 hours and did rafting also in morning and now travelling back same day. I felt very exhausted but thought that this was my decision and i have to take me and my machine back anyhow.
I rode 70 kms from there and took break at one restaurant in hapur, we all had our dinner. Now it was time to take a flyby of 188 kms more directly to gurgaon.
I asked that car driver to drive at 90-100 kmph so that i can just chase him and he did drove well and finally after leaving everyone at their locations. I reached home at 1:30 AM (3rd April), had some whisky and slept. Woke up next day 3 PM and whole body was paining but it was worth.
Finally the long weekend was long adventurous happy weekend. [emoji965]

Hope you all will like it and comment down your experiences too. If any mistakes, my bad.

[emoji965][emoji1128]☺ (1400 kms).

Hope you all will like it and comment down your experiences too. If any mistakes, my bad.
