                            • ......

Me & Winzee fueled up the tanks wid shiva's credit card & started riding on the NH8. Finally after weeks of doubts, whether we were actually goin to do this ride on not, we were finally out on road to face the Rajasthan heat. Our plan was to reach ahemedabad by early morning & hit the ghats early afternoon. I signaled shiva & winzee to maintain constant speeds of 80kmph so we could cover more distance & save fuel, as always this ride too we were low on cash. It was pretty dark now, and the road was a bit dull for night ridin. The white lines were all gone. I was leadin & I could seee nothin nothin at all. On all over previous rides tooo we have been ridin at night but this one was worst. Ridin was fun as usual but the visibility was worst. The cross sections in the dividers is really bad, from nowhere there is a divider in front of you, you cant break neither can u go over it. There was a small corner in which I really got confused, it was a straight patch somewhere near Manor. On the opposite lane there were some 10-15 truck in a straight line. We all were blinded by the lights but as i had seen the road before the trucks came I knew it was a straight stretch. As the road was not visible we had slowed down considerably. The road showed us itz back and there was a sharp bend around the corner which we realized jst around 30mtz from it. It was an scary incident. We had been riding from more than an hour. Winzee was at the back wid his 150cc pulsar, jst ridin smoothly and following the Karizma's tail lamps. It was around 90kms and 2 hrs since we left Mumbai, so far so goood. Decided to have some non-veg foood before stepping into vegetarian Gujrat. Took a break at a nice dhaba/restaurant. Had some chinese food to save time. The food was delicious but we didnt have enough time at our disposal to sit & enjoy it. Checked the GPS for some ride stats & we hit the road again. This time tooo as decided we were riding at 80kmph. The roads had improved by now but it was yet really very dark. One really starts dreaming of the Pursar 200's projection lamps at such times.

It was around 10.30 wen we crossed gujrat border. I was updating my location on twitter, so tht other ppl on the forum & some of my friends could track me without disturbing me on the phone. Twitters really multipurpose & the ease of use on a mobile device really makes it a cool utility to stay in touch wid the world wen ones traveling. The GQ consists of some of the best stretches in India & Gujrat is one those & also the most boring stretch. Some part of me hates the HQ as I jst have to ride straight on it & nothin else. One good feature of the Gujrat strech is that it is Tarmac & not a cement road line the Mumbai-Banglore one, feels really smooth. The roads are very good both during day & night, jst if u dont have a goood headlight u pretty much have to depend on your instincts. It was 3 hours now & we had already crossed Valsad, so we a bit ahead of the schedule. Surat was the next pit stop, itz around 70-80kms from valsad. On the GQ u never knw wen the time flies by and you inch inch closer & closer to your destination. It was past midnight wen we crossed Surat, if it wasnt for the GPS we would never know we crossed GPS. My stomach was gain growling for food, u knw wen the mice inside ur stomach start kicking u aint able to ride ny more. We had a pit stop some 50kms from Surat at Ankeleshwar. Stopped at a small dhaba for some khari & foood & not to forget the tea. Shiva was carrying a laptop wid him, removed it from his saddle bag plugged in the Idea internet connection n we were ready to get connected to the world. Yaa the ride was all wired up, the most techie ride ive ever done. Ordered dal fry, khari & some tea. One suggestion for nyone who is travllin to gurjat, dont forget to have Khari & Tea must have & the fastest consumable items around. We waited there for quite a long time, around an hour or so I guess. I had around 3 cups of tea. By the time we got geared up it was already 2.30 & now now the 8 eight leg freak wanted to ride my unicorn.
