Day 1: Bangalore to Kanyakumari
Route: Bangalore-Salem-Dindigul-Virudhunagar-Kanyakumari

In between unexpected rains (forgot to check weather) and me fully soaked in this was longest single day stretch i ever did of close to 680 Kms in about 11 hours. I had like 10 cups of filter coffee on the way to keep me awake . My aim was to reach before sunset but i reached well before time. I started from bangalore at 4:30 and reached Kanyakumari hotel at around 3:00.

After reaching Kanyakumari i took rest for about an hour and then went out in search of beach. I wanted to find a calm place to sit an enjoy the sunset. I was lucky as there was not much crowd on that day. I reached sunset point but didn't liked the place as it did not offered a place to sit and view. I was able to see a rocky beach from there so took my bike and went till that place. I was alone sitting on that long rocky beach and enjoying the view, Mission Accomplished.

After sunset went around walking in street with all shops near the boat house to enquire about my next day's visit to Vivekananda rock memorial. Had dinner and retired for the day.

Day 2: Kanyakumari to Varkala
Route: Kanyakumari-Kovalam-Varkala
Stay: Varkala Cliff, Vedanta Wake-up dormitory. Cost: 500rs/night Rooms: bunk beds shared with 6 people.


The first thing on the list was to see the beautiful sunrise on the beach nearby. As it was cloudy all around wasnt able to see the sun peeping through clouds so made mind to visit Vivekananda rock memorial and Thiruvallavur statue. As i reached i saw a long queue of tourist's waiting to get on that first ferry which departs at 7:00 AM. The ferry to Thiruvallavur statue was cancelled as there were high waves so the Vivekananda memorial was the only place i visited. The memorial feel's so serene but it was again spoilt by a huge crowd. The inner sanctum of memorial is just beautiful with a magnificent Vivekananda statue.

After spending about an hour and learning few things about Swami Vivekananda i took ferry back to mainland and started preparing up for ride till Varkala. Now Varkala from Kanyakumari is 120Kms but there are many options for roads to choose from. I decided to stick to coastline as close as possible. So figured out a route and punched it in the Google Maps and started ride on upcoming some of the most beautiful roads i have ever ridden.

As soon as i reached Trivandrum it started to rain cats and dogs so had to stop for a while until it slowed down and started back again. My target was to reach Varkala before the sunset and so i did at about 4:00 PM.

After refreshing up went out for a stroll around and watch the sunset.The cliff has a chain of cafe's and shops. Was surprised to see there were more Foreigners than indian tourists. Ended up with a beautiful view of sunset and beer.
