it took us 3 days to reach Manali and then 2 and a half day to reach Leh so it took us of total 5 and a half day to cover Surat to Leh which is a bit slower but i had two rookie riders on a really long ride.
<strong>
It was fun filled ride with 2 random riders with whome i never ever got a chance to do a bike ride but i knew one of them.
We were riding and facing some troubles but didn't lose hope till we made it to Leh and oh man what a highway to ride on. Till date Manali Leh highway is one of my favorite highway and on top of the list of my favourit road to ride on.
<strong>
We stayed at Backpackers Panda in Old Manali which is one of the many places to stay at in Manali. I loved my experience there.
You can also Visit cafes like Cafe 1947 , The shed and many more. We got a chance to visit these two places and it was dope.
<strong>
So next thing we did in Manali was some shopping for our Ladakh adventure like Jerry cans and Gum boots some other necessary thing.
<strong>
Next day we spent 3-4 hours at SDM office to get our permits for beyond Rohtang pass. It costs 200 INR for Bikes and 500 INR for cars.
You have to get a form from cabins near SDM office and fill up the details or you can do this online here :
Rohtang Pass stays close on Tuesdays so you won't be getting permits for Tuesdays but you can go beyond. And they issue only 500 vehicles per day for till Rohtang pass.
<strong>
Anyways this is it for Manali. I will Post more on next blog about how to reach Leh from Manali on a bike and what things to carry and what are the ups and downs of this route.
So stay tuned for more and do let me know if you have more questions regarding this blog.
