We are flying down the highway holding on to each other in a symphony of twists and turns, experiencing the beauty of nature and the thrill of the ride together.

Westcoast ride is about exploring the coastal beauty of Maharashtra & Karnataka till Udupi, we as a couple took a 9 day escapade covering 2070 KM's riding from Mumbai to Udupi via Murudeshwar, Gokarna, South Goa , doodhsagar & Mahabaleshwar.

A sad way to begin your ride with you both being unwell. Just as a suggestion, please avoid riding on our highways post sundown as the risk level is high. The pictures are lovely and look forward to the rest of your travelogue.

Day 1:- Mumbai - Murudeshwar
750kms

It all started while I was discussing on celebrating my birthday.
Initial plan was to go for a camping ride & come back.
But the wanderlust in us wanted something more, she asked -"will be able to manage a 3 day leave at work".
Thinking for a moment I said not sure.
Then we planned & extended to work on weekends & manages to earn comp off, that being the festival month of Ganapati , I planned a 4 day leave & ended up with 9days in hand.

Being a solo motorclycist for years i wanted to be sure & prepared for this ride with her.
My bike has been stock ever since I bought it, no extra lights , no saddle stays , not a single penny spent on any touring mods.
But this time I had to get few mods , since after the Pondy ride with her I realised it gets difficult for the pillion to wear the bag & sit through out the ride


Ride preps:-
1. Tyre upgrades :- my front Tyre was worn out & decided on Ceat zoom for its all season abilities.
2. Fog lights :- since we planned to ride on nights as well, got some lights worth 500 from Kurla market.
3. Saddle stay :- got a custom made halo 3 inspired design
4. Riding gears :- got all my riding gears washed & also moment gifted me a new MT helmet
5. Luggage :- As always planned to tie the ruck sack on the saddle stay with bungee cords


So the route was planned after discussing with the group member on xbhp WhatsApp , I planned not to take the old Goa route till Dapoli since the road conditions was pathetic ,but to ride through the Bangalore Highway.



7th September ,2018
3PM

Since, I planned to return early from work & leave by 5pm so that we can reach our destination early.

5PM - I was still stuck at work & it was 6PM till I reached home.

After wasting a lot of time packing & unpacking certain things we manages to leave by 8:30PM

Since, we were late than the schedule plan, we thought we would sleep for a couple of hours the next day at some place & continue the journey.

After we crossed Lonavala,It started getting cold & I was feeling low.
She guessed it right I was suffering with fever, it got difficult to ride shivering & trembling to hold the throttle, we decided to stay at a friend's place tonight & wait for the temperature to low down.


12:20PM
Reached Pune & slept after an hour of conversation with friends, the plan was to sleep for 4-5 hrs and leave as I was confident of fever to go away.

9Am.

Waiting in the que for the doctor to prescribe some medicine ,

4PM

My temperature dropped to normal & I felt better after medication, good amount of rest.

Since we had very few days left in hand we planned to leave by evening.

12:30AM

We were on the Bangalore Highway all excited & happy .
Crossed Satara , took a tea break & continued our journey .

Covered a distance of around 380kms & she started to feel low.
Took a break hoping for her to feel better, but things got worse & left with no option we continued our journey we reached Nipani & she was just pushing herself since she was not sure of a good hospital there.
happy to see the sunrise at this beautiful location, where both the sides of the road was covered by the water body & a little bit of fog encompassing the roads, it was a delightful day I must say.
However, I was a little unhappy since my partner in crime was down with fever.

We took a right towards Dharwad & she almost gave up, she just wanted to lie down on the road & rest but the place looked a unsafe to me & had to continue the ride till we reached this beautiful terrace of the house on the road side, she quickly requested the owner of the house if we can rest for some time , she agreed & oh boy what a view it was, overlooking the mountains, engulfed by the clouds I just couldn't get over it, she took a power nap while I got busy capturing some pics.
Managed to reach Murudeshwar by 12Pm , got into a hotel , gave here some medicines & asked her to rest.
While she was resting I visited the temple & the streets of Murudeshwar , capturing some pictures & returned back soon ,hoping she would have been fine by now.

The 1st day of our ride turned out to be happy, excited & a tragedic one, nonetheless with a hope we continued our journey to the next destination
