  • The best 2 days bike trip plan to Gandikota with 6 nearby places covered.

    All set to explore G
andikota for the weekend. We had packed the bags in the friday morning itself so that as soon as we come back from the office in the evening we can leave at 5 pm. Tent, sleeping bags, clothes, dslr, drone, action camera and all the gadgets were packed. But, Bengaluru weather had a different plan and it was raining heavily in the evening. So, we waited for the rain to cut down a bit and finally started at 5.30 pm with raincoat wrap up for myself and my bag.

    1st place : Gandikota

We took the Devanahalli route to avoid the Hebbal traffic and with a few tea breaks in between and a wrong turn to a village near Gandikota finally reached Gandikota at 2.15 am midnight on Saturday and pitched the tent near the view point at Gandikota. As it's not a NH road and we have to cross multiple towns and villages to reach Gandikota it takes around 7 hrs from Bangalore (including the breaks in between).

With alarm set at 5.30 morning we had a peaceful sleep from 3 am to 5.30 am. Woke up at 5.45 am after multiple alarm snoozes to witness the sunrise at Gandikota. Tried to capture the time lapse video of sunrise but I had forgot to turn on the recording and had just placed my phone thinking the recording was on. My bad luck. Still I witnessed the spectacular sunrise standing at the George view point.

Later after freshening up took some drone shots hiding from the security over there as it is not legal to shoot using drone.

Finally, after riding the bike at the not so usual roads of the Gandikota fort we were out of Gandikota fort and had lunch at 2.30 and left Gandikota at 3 pm.

2nd place : Oravakallu natural rock formation garden

By 5.30 we reached the oravakallu rock garden and it was almost closing time of the garden. It's a big garden not filled with flowers but filled with rocks which are formed naturally in that place.

We had snacks here and started our journey to our next place Yaganti temple.

    3rd Place: Yaganti temple

As the road was not great we were a bit late to this place and reached the temple by 8.30. But the temple was closed by 8 itself and we had to wait till the next day 6 am for the darshana. But food was served at temple till 9.30 and we had dinner at the temple anna dasoha hall.
Then we were searching for a place to pitch our tent near temple. Thankfully we met a person whose native was karnataka and had settled in yaganti from last few years. He offered us a place near their home to pitch our tent. So we put up our tent and set the alarm at sharp 6 am and slept.

We visited all the 3 temples at Yaganti. The temple is situated in the rock hills and has congested space inside. So, you have bend completely from the entrance till you have darshana of the lord and come out of the temple.

The Karnataka family, which gave us place to pitch the tent, forced us to have breakfast at their home. We were served a spicy north Karnataka breakfast with Mirchi Bajji.

We had a nice conversation with that family and finally thanked them and took a group photo with their family and departed from that place.

While leaving they suggested a nearby place Nawab bungalow which is just 2 km from Yaganti temple.

    4th place : Nawab bungalow

This is the palace where the famous Telugu movie Arundati is shot. The drone view of this palace is spectacular.

Drone shot of the nawab bungalow:

Then we left to the belum caves

    5th place : Belum caves

Belum caves is the longest and the largest caves with a stretch of 3 km. The Buddha idol at the entrance of the Belum caves is just mind blowing.

After gulping as much fresh air as possible and getting back to normal state being shocked with the beauty and the creativity of the mother earth we left Belum caves heading to the last place of our list Gooty fort.

6th and the last place : Gooty fort

It was 60 km from Belum caves and on the way to Bangalore.

Before reaching Gooty fort we dint know that we have to climb up the fort, we thought that we would just park our bikes near by and will have a sight seeing at the fort.As we were completely exhausted exploring the Belum caves dint have energy left to climb up the Gooty fort. As it was the last place in the list, we just put up all the energy left with us and started climbing the fort.

Drone shots at the Gooty fort:

After watching the Sunday sunset at the gooty fort we headed back to Bangalore and reached home at 12.30 (Thanks to the 200 km Ananthapur-Bangalore highway stretch). Again back to office on the monday morning at 10 am.

          Good perspective from Drone.

If you don't mind, can you please share the details of your drone?
