An adventure which has kept me alive since I came to Bengaluru. Bought my first bike here ... Started travelling solo and in groups whenever I am frustrated in my life.2018 was such an year ...which ended on a very happy note after so many twists ...22nd Dec - 25th Dec ...it went like I was never ever going through whole year...
I an my two friends were highly anticipated and waiting for this trip to happen.
Sanjib(Apache), Mayank (RE 500) and me (Gixxer SF) we were fully energised the day before .
22nd Dec- We three got off the bed early by 4 AM and left by 4:45 AM from our Room in Sarjapur road.
Another 1 hr we took to cross the Bangalore and reach Mysore road. By 6:00AM , we were plying on Mysore road with speeds at around 70-80 kmph.
By 9:00 AM , we reached Mysore ORR and soo we decided to give our big break for breakfast.
We had a heavy breakfast before Nanjungad .
By 10:00 AM, we started our journey again and reached Kerela border around 11.00 AM .
Crossing through Bandipur is another mesmerizing experience , which can never get old . Although I crossed Bandipur while going Ooty but this part is more denser and less populated .
After we crossed Bandipur, we decided not to stop until we reach the Wayanad ghat section. So we headed quickly till we reached Kalpetta by 1.30PM .
Once we reached the Lakkidi View point , we decided to give a break .
The amazing ghat section cant let you pass through without having its look.
After having a photography session from Sanjib ...we decided to move away .So we finally headed towards our hotel in Kozhikode which was just 40kms from there .
We reached by 3:00 PM that day.
As we already decided to see the beach that day , we left for our sightseeing...which was a headache. First of all the distance from our hotel , which was around 17kms and then the Kozhikode traffic. I was not surprised to see the traffic but was instead amazed as I was wondering small cities like Kozhikode also had such traffic issues.
Somehow, we reached before sunset and enjoy the evening sitting on the beach talking about our life seeing the bouys floating on the open sea .
Finally we returned back room for the rest which was much needed coz as I got of my bike I saw my trip meter showing 415km .
.......First time ever ......
23rd Dec- It was more like Kozhikode sightseeing days for us .
Tusharagiri waterfalls and Aripara waterfalls .
They both are really gems but the trekking there is what I found to be little tough.
May be this coukd be due to our tiredness or may be due to HOT sun ..
We really got know why Kerala is called the God's own country ....
"Greenery everywhere".
24th Dec- This day was more of traffic in Koyilandy , Thikkodi beach and return to Wayanad.
So the day started with a bang , we headed towards one of the major attractions, I think every bike rider should experience this ...the drive in beach .... Thikkodi....
I read over Google ....that it was one of the longest drive in beach in Asia.
Thus , I had already decided to go ..
But , sad I didn't decided that traffic ...along with Surya Dev (Sun)....
It was around 40km from our hotel ....So we decided to cover the place and return by noon for Wayanad journey.
We returned room left for Wayanad by 1.30 PM and soon in the Ghats everything turned around...the hot sunshine went off and rain took its place ...that evening we reached our Oyo in Kalpetta ....Deluxe Residency a very affordable stay in Kalpetta (people here are very good in behaviour).
Evening we decided to roam around the place , and soon heavy rains started in Kalpetta and it was the best weather I had ever seen in the recent time.....
As it was Christmas eve ...it was good decorations in the surrounding....
Anyway we came our room back as it was becoming cold ....and had a very good sleep.
25th Dec- Wayanad sightseeing and Bangalore again ....
Started early from the hotel...went straight to Chembra peak ....its a delight....nice hill and trekking...along with 2km off roading...I didn't know how I did it in a faired bike .....and Tea gardens with a decent altitude...
Had to return to Bangalore by evening so left that place and went to Eddakal caves where unluckily the tickets were over .... Imagine this .....
Thus we decided...we are done for the trip so left finally for Bangalore by 2pm....
This return journey was the worst till now but it has another experience...which will be alive forever....
While returning, we had one of the worst experience...near Muthanga ...as we were caught by Kerala police for overspeeding in Jungle area ....I guess I was around 70 kmph but once caught...you are caught....Paid the fine entered Bandipur forest which was again waiting for one more nightmare....Sanjib 's Apache broke down in between as the tyre blasted in between the jungle ....hats off to him...as he drove in the same condition from there till Gundlupete...where a road side puncture man tried hard fixing it ....but we got to know it was soon to come off again ...thus we had our lunch in Gundlupete and wished the tyre to be ok for our return journey....but fate had something else ....we were heading to Mysore and while we were near Nanjungad the tyre blasted again and we were in deep danger ...Mysore was still 30kms and time was around 6:30 pm...we searched for some tyre shops nearby but we got the nearest one in Mysore ....so we decided to reach as soon before the shop closes.
So , we headed to Mysore and luckily we reached in time ....Sanjib got his tyres fixed there and we finally started from Mysore by 7:30 pm ...Still 170km was to be done and we decided we will not take Mysore road due to traffic ...so we headed through the remote Kanakpura road ....
I was worried about the road but surprisingly it was awsome just some road works near Kanakpura.
It was 11:30pm and we reached Bangalore safely ....
I look out for the trip meter and it shows 1023km ... finally we covered 1k kms ...and my dream for a long trip came to an end with lots of great memories still alive .....
Hoping to get back soon to some more destinations in South india ...
Thanks,
Vivek Nishant
