So, I got a beep on my phone and a friend's (Sister, Bestie) invite for her wedding happening in Gurgaon. Initially I planned to take a train with rest of my clan but later, this thought popped up. Why not ride? And I had been shooting back to back for the last month and a half so I couldn't see a better gateway than riding for wedding. And being a photographer at the wedding and attending the wedding as guest later is something I always wait for since I rarely get the opportunity as I shoot almost all my friends wedding. So i was happy to be a guest at the same.
So I started the planning. I have like two rider buddies who ride with me for long distances so the plan was shared with both Nizam and Mayuresh. Nizam backed out as he had commitments back home but Mayuresh was in since we shoot together. He was in a same state of mind as I was shooting weddings. Let me tell you shooting a wedding ain't easy. So I had him accompany with me. He rides a Duke 390 like me. Route and halts was decided and since I have never ridden to delhi before, I had to incorporate a couple of destinations which were pending in my bucket list from up North.
Here goes the route Plan.
Thane - Udaipur - Pushkar (Ajmer) - Jaipur - Agra - Delhi - Udaipur - Thane = 3500Kms
Day 1 - Thane - Udaipur - 780Kms
As I had rode a couple of times to Udaipur in the past as it is 'the' wedding destination, I'm aware and have extensively travelled in and around Udaipur. So it isn't a new place to me but as we didn't want to extend post sunset, Udaipur was an ideal place for the stopover for the night. So most of the bookings were done in Zostel. Its a backpackers hostel chain with some 32 destinations all over India. This ain't any promotion but it is one of the best places to stay when riding and as we take the dorm sharing system it is very economical. They charge you like anywhere between 400-600 for a bed in a dorm which is well equipped with washroom WiFi and AC. And after a long ride all I need is nice hot water shower and a bed.
So finally our first day ride began. I always like to start early so I can reach my destination before sunset. Met Mayuresh at our meeting point as discussed and there we were, on outrway out to our first destination via the NH-8, one of the best highways in India, the Gujarat highways. Since all we had was straights, no good landscape on the highway except when you take a detour from Vadodara to go to Modasa via the Halol Godhra highway. Superb highway which by passes Ahmedabad. As anyways you can't ride on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway not many pics were clicked as had travelled this routes in the past. but a couple of them I'm sharing.
This was at the Gujarat-Maharashtra state border
Just after a toll somewhere in Godhra.
More to come as the Tlog gets approved.
