    Re: Leh 2018

Inner line permits were ready & we were planning for the next day, which was going to be 4th day of the journey but one friend of our's was not willing to go beyond Leh. we all tried but he was firm on his decision & planned his journey back home by srinagar route.

Next day we ( 4 friends ) headed to Turtuk & he headed back home . We visited the petrol station & filled our bike's tank to the brim along with the cans we were carrying along with us as we were not sure about the availability of the fuel beyond Khardung-La.

Khardungla is not like other passes where you feel low o2 levels & risk of any major health issues related to mountain sickness ( We all felt the same ) . You try to avoid stay for prolonged time at other high passes but in this case we avoided to stay here for long due to huge crowed . The highest motorable board constructed by the BRO gets more selfies as compared to our film stars. . Do not felt like clicking photos here.

Road is in bad shape on the both side of khardungla for arong 6-7 Km & road construction was going on the Nubrs side .

Yes Nubra valley is beautiful & scenery changes a lot on this side of pass .

On the Way to Turtuk. Our plan was to not stop at Nubra instead we wanted to visit Turtuk , which is the last Village of India & you can see Pakistan from here . We fueled up at Diskit as pump was operational & we had also confirmed before starting from Leh. If you want to visit Turtuk, then please confirm the availability of the petrol here as most of the time it is out of stock.

This is also the region where we see a lot of army trucks as we are so close to the border . Road from Diskit to Turtuk is good condition & they ( BRO ) were patching the bad parts . We rode along the shyok river till Turtuk & Sun was already down by the time we reach there.

            Re: Leh 2018

3rd (End ) & 4th day . Turtuk to pangong LakeBy the time we arrived in Turtuk , Sun was already set . First it appeared small village by the river side but we later we found out that it has grown a lot due to inflow of the tourists in past years. A lot of homestays have come up to meet the demands of the tourists & staying options are plenty ranging from 400 Rs to 12 per person including food.Locals suggested us to cross the new village & then cross a bridge & then take the left which will lead us to the old village & there you can find good homestays. We followed their advice as it is hardly 2 Km.We were searching for a homestay which a person has suggested us during our stay in LEH. He had visited Turtuk some 3-4 days back & discussion with him led us to the turtuk . So we crossed one foot bridge as there is no other way you can visit the old village. This created one more problem of unloading/carrying the luggage to the homestay , so we decided to search for a homestay which is this side of the bridge & our friends had already done that by the time we came back from visiting the homestayView from the footbridgeClick image for larger version

ID:	1966427Next day i.e 4th day , Our plant for the day was to reach pangong lake . To meet our target , we decided visit the places of interest early in the morning & came back to home stay by the time of breakfast . Natural cold storage was a very unique place which we saw . This is a place in which natural cool air blows continuously & locals have built small huts like structures to keep the edible material inside. Click image for larger version
