For Fresh Strawberry - Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani

    Mumbai - Mahabaleshwar & Panchgani - Mumbai - 497 kms
    Day: May 23, 2009. Saturday
    Who all: Anup and Shruti
    Bike: Marcus: Avenger

4:00am: I get up early and wake Shruti up to go back to sleep again, once she got ready, she started pestering me to wake up and leave, the most painful part is to get up early, once you are out of the house then you are comfortable, but waking up from the bed is a pain on any given day

5:00 am: We were ready to hit the road, we road comfortably from Mumbai - Panvel in an hours time to reach McDonalds for a nice heavy breakfast. We reached before the place was open, so we had to waile some time there; as soon as it opened at 6:00 am, we pounced on whatever we could eat and it was good for another 6 hrs...
As the place was not yet finalized, i was still asking Shruti if she wanna go somewhere close by and relax on this weekend, but she was damn sure that its only Mahabaleshwar that she wants to go too..

6:30 - Again back on the road we crossed JNPT(Panvel By Pass)- Karnala Bird Scantuary - Wadkhal Naka - NH 17 towards Kolad - Mahad - Poladpur
from Poladpur the road which takes you to Mahabaleshwar is about 40 kms..and the road is in a bad shape. Some parts were really stressfull.
We took ample amount of breaks either for Tea- Coffee or my ciggi break (during the break i keep on hearing some dialogs like" when do u plan to quit?"; "Dont you think so u are smoking a lot these days?" i hear it patiently and give her a standard answer..."Very Soon!"

The ride on the NH 17 is damn beautiful and i believe the road on NH17 can be rated as one of the best National Higways, it will keep you awake because of the winding beautiful roads and if you are tired you have your dhabas in place, petrol pumps are available in plenty, hence i choose to use this road rather than the Satara road to Mahabaleshwar (although there is not much difference)

Soon we were at Mahabaleshwar and we choose to just ride through it and go to Panchgani which is 13 kms from there, they have Para Sailing and also ther is a palce known as "Sherbaug" which is a nature lovers paradise SHERBAUG A THEME PARK HUGE FLORA FAUNA COLLECTION IN PANCHGANI NEAR MAHABALESHWAR . This was an imprompto decision and it was Shruti's idea for the place, i myself didnt have any clue about what has to be done, i just came for Lunch and Strawberry!!!

So we were riding to Sherbaug we saw people enjoying Parasailing and i couldnt resist but to click (only reson, we were carrying less money) they charge 1500/- for 10 minutes (Aint that the best business).
I was thinking that the investment amount is practically nothing, buy some Parasailing equiments/ get some trainers (pay them 10000rs a month)/or get trained also involve family and ask all the xbhpians for a ride to the sky..charge money and i will be super rich in 3-4 months...

Soon we were at Sherbaug and we got the entry for 200 per person and paid additional 50rs for the camera. We chilled there till about 3 in the afternoon, visited their garden which has a lot of flowers, cactus plantation, Dinosaur fossils and floating rocks etc. It is a nice place to visit and a must visit for all the nature lovers. They also teach pottery there (which takes about 15 minutes to learn..the basis). All in all a very nice place to visit.
We had our Lunch at Shanbaug itslelf (Aloo Paratha, Strawberry Lassi, Strawberry with fresh Cream and Thali Pheet). It was delicious but a bit overpriced, however the quantity was not disapointing.

Once out of Shanbaug we chose to ride back the same road towards home, we reached Mapro foods limited
Welcome To Mapro Foods Pvt. Ltd. Web SIte.
We were in a mood to taste everything there but then we decided to stick to Strawberry with Cream only and we had it till death.

Realizing that we were getting late, we choose to leave, by the time we left Panchgani it was almost 5:00 pm

We reached home safely at 10:00 pm. We were were happy to have spent a day on the bike together and visiting such a nice place like Sherbaug.

Thanks for reading the triplog, photos will be up soon...as of now here are few teaser pics.

    Shruti and I

    Just me

P.S: Mahabaleshwar has so many places to visit that you cannot do it in a day, hence plan a 2 day trip and it will be fun.

badiyaa... the only thing that would take me back to Mahabaleshwar is the "Strawberry Cream"!

did you take the same route while returnin??
and NH17 best...naa.. even I thought so, but now that I've done NH9, preferences have changed!

...aur mujhe kab milegi meri biker girl....??!? (ofcourse shouldn't come before I get a bike like Avenger or similar...would be a pain on the R15!)

@Aman: We didnt miss the lake, the lake was over crowded so we chose to avoid it and the other points also the same...lets all plan to ride there together sometime soon.

@chilled fire: only a day because we had some important work on Saturday man...

@arvindraju: Surething the ride was nice, the bike fared pretty well there was no problem at all.
