Beautiful photographs. What is the highest point on the Chandrashila trek till which you could ride your motorcycle? I tried to trek to Chandrashila from Deoriatal in December 2014, but had to abort it due to hard ice and very deep snow.

            Thanks Buswajit

One can ride till Chopta, from there trek to Tungnath, infact it is not a proper trek, Tungnath is temple and there is proper path and one can easily reach there in a 1.5 to 2 hours of time, from Tungnath, there is another 1-1.5 kms to Chandrashila which is a proper trek and quite interesting also.

I heard about the trek from chandrashila to deorital, which is considered as moderate, must had been a great experience, would be nice if you can share more details or have any travelogue.

            Thanks again

Hey Abhinav, it was long back, I have not bothered to write a travelogue yet, may be later. Our initial plan was to reach Chopta and then trek to Tungnath and Chandrashila and finally to Deoriatal and back (I was an avid trekker at that time, and I was riding a Pulsar 150). The route we took was Delhi – Rishikesh – Rudraprayag – Ukimath – Sari, which is around 440 kms that we covered in two days (we had to take a break at Rudraprayag). We were told that Chopta was inaccessible due to snow as deep as 6 feet (this is what the locals and the taxi drivers told us, it was 20 December 2014), both from Gopeshwar via Karnaprayag and Chamoli, and from Ukimath as well. We decided to go to Ukimath and then to Sari village and try our luck to trek to Chandrashila via Rohini Bugyal and back, if possible. The road was horrible, and when we reached Ukimath, we were ascertained that the road to Chopta was blocked. We went to Sari and trekked to Deoriatal and spent the night there in a tent in sub zero temperature. Pankaj Singh Negi, whose homestay we stayed in, told us that it was impossible to trek to Chandrashila. We stayed at Sari for another night and made our way to Delhi the next day, taking the same route back.
