The shorter route via the north-southcorridor is featureless and considered riskier than the GQ thru mumbai + wanted to go to Rann of kutch (cldnt make it ) and also wanted to drive thru rajasthan(which i did )
I wld suggest the GQ route due to numerous dhabas n lodges where u can crash in for a small nap

Brilliant trip there Rajat. Always wanted to do a bangalore-delhi, although bangalore-Mumbai is up next. Tell me more about the bikes? How did they take it? Whats with the 1 liter consumption of oil? Are you planning to ride back?

        Well 2 pulsars
Pulsar 180: 3 years old and had done 22000km already including numerous 800+km/day trips
Pulsar150: hardly 6 months old with 3000km on the odo

Handling: 40kgs of luggage in the saddle bags made thr presence felt and its was diffuclut flicking the bike into quick dir chnges. A bad stretch of tarmac sucked watever life was left of the race cone and a contant thud was present till a mech tighted up the steering column. no puntures thru the trip.
ENgine: Maintained speed around 80-90 thruout the trip while shrtburst of upto 110. signs of heat exhaustion ftr 70-80 km but then mineral oil and the high ambient temp only added to the misery coz she ran just fine during the cold nighs. aftr almost 40 min of constant 7000rpm action he exhaust sound changed, accl dec and a downshift was reqd at even the slightest incline but a 10 min rest bought her back to normal . The heat n the constant RPM only added to the oil consumption and a top up was reqd at every 700-800km. A synthetic oil wld have been better but then topping it up wld have been a prblm enroute.
Bodywork: The 150 took a tumble but came out with minor hits like broken RVM, bent legguard and gear lever among bruises but she thumbed back to life with one kick.
Luggage: hats off to cramster, crammed in with 40kgs of lugage i thot the bags r gonna rip open but they were upto the challenge

Rest all cycle parts worked perfectly with not a hint of comlain
A full service back at home revealed a Dying battery, dead clutch plates (maybe a reason for overheating of the engine), and a long dead race cone. but then these things are expected at around 25000km and 3 yrs

Tip: use and carry a spare synth oil can while doin nehting more then 300km a day

Generally you don't need to if your bike is in a good condition. its just the bullet on which you need this kinda extra oil and all that...

generally bikes do need engine oil topping up if it involves a hgih speed run over a long duration
lots of threads saying the same thing int he forum as well

I did the first long trip of abt 400km at around 3000km on the speedo, guess the bike wld have been in a mint condt then and still it needed topping up

though iagree that top up may vary from bike to bike and owner to owner depending on the riding as well as ambient condt

                Nice trip
if cylinder bore and piston is in a good condition,i dont think any bike would require a top up before 2000-2500kms(that too if necessary).
but i have heard that pulsars require oil top ups if ripped hard.

@rajat-Liked the way you presented your ride.Short yet crisp.Congrats for the whole journey.

Regarding western ghats you traversed one of the most boring stretch(Not for me though) and hence felt the same.

even though its a very late reply i still congratulate you for the trip.
and your ride is a testimony for pulsars reliability and i will show this to my friends who are arguing with that bajaj bikes are unreliable.
