  • My First Solo Ride to illikalkallu (kerala)

Hi Rider's... It's my first solo ride from Kochi to Illikkalkallu.. And my first ever travelogue

It"s a weekend Saturday, I woke up from bed and plan to home as usual. when i start bike the thought came, do some different. previously i went many places, but it"s with friends. so i took a change in scenario. I decide to travel somewhere and many places are coming in my mind, and one got stuck. The monsoon is started in Kerala, so all the ghat sections are more beautiful than ever. So i decide the destination is Illikalkallu.

As like many solo riders the same fear came to my mind, if anything happen on the way or any complaint in my bike ? Whatever it is i decide to move on.. so i check the google map and understood an idea about the roads and place. so the wheel start rolling i took Kochi - Muvattupuzha road and the time is showing 8 AM. The road is simply awesome, there is less traffic so i maintain a 60 km/h. From Muvattupuzha turn to Thodupuzha route, it's a state highway so the ride become more easier and the climate is little cloudy.

When the ghat section is coming the cold winds are attacking, also the rode getting smaller. and i decide to ask anyone to make the route clear , i ask one local person to about the route, He give me a route that easier than i know , i take his route and start rolling.. the Same thing happens here , as like many said in other travelogues.. The local man said only 10Km from there to reach Illikkalkallu. but the reality is its about 18 km. and he said the road is in good condition..

From there the real Ghat roads are came.. I just wonder about that road.. can i make this with my hero hunk..? But the machine is simply good to roll.. i took the road, The road have lot of up's and down.. more than a off road riding, one side of the road is like hill valley in somewhere, and some small waterfalls are give more fuel to my mind to reach the destination..

At last i reach the spot.. Misty clouds are clapping around me.. It's an unforgettable moment. gave some rest to the bike and walk to the ticket counter.. only 25 rs. for entry fee , also jeep ride is available.. just near to that small shops , it's a nice mood take a black tea and sit back with misty surrounding. then i walk to the top.. there are well maintained road for the traveller's.. after some hairpin turns i reach the top.. the sideline's are full of long grass the surround is greenish.. and the view from top ohhh its amazing.. really it's god's own country.. full of hills and valley's.. the mist are playing a hide & seek.. the main attraction The big Jaguar face rock.. wow its looking wonderful...

There are lot of couples and travellers, they are exploring their photography skills.. After some time rain is started all are searching for a shelter.. There is a small hut for the jeep drivers.. most of the eyes goes there.. am enjoying the rain at that time.. it's a mind blowing feel.. but the rain is going heavily.. At last i ran to the hut.... after some time rain went away and the misty clouds start their game.. all the visitors are back on track.. & me too.. spent some more time and return back to the parking area.. on my way lot of legs are moving to cross this misty hill... The partner is ready to start the next ride and we take another road its much better than the previous one.. maintain the speed and reach home safely at 6 PM... Ya its a beginning for something BIG....

Solo rides are always more... revealing (for the lack of a better word).
Being in touch with just yourself and your bike is a feeling that is out of this world.
Please do add some photos if you can.
