  • Monsoon ride to Chikmagaluru ....

Random plan is always one hell of a plan.
5th of July, partying with my one of oldest friend of mine, we got a click from him; LONG RIDE!
In my mind, I was like, "Here I come!"
Booked a hotel at 10 PM that night and journey to the green land began. I was so happy that we were gonna be riding in the hills. It is the best feeling one can have.

So on the morning of 6th of July, exactly 30 mins from our scheduled time, we left our room.

We = Me (Gixxer SF), Sanjib (Apache) and Sunny.

And we started the journey and we took the good'ol route; Hassan, Belur, Chikmagaluru. As I was travelling to this side for the first time, I saw roads much better than those in South Karnataka. NH-75 is so smooth and silky that one can cruise here at around 80-90 km/h without any issue.

By the time we were close to Hassan, it started to rain and we were completely drenched. We reached Hassan early, by 8:30-9 in the morning, Ride from Hassan to Chikmagaluru is just wow. Beautiful roads with a loads of bends to have some fun. But always watch out for Highway Patrol.

Upon reaching Chikmagaluru, we decided to check-in into the hotel and start for Mulayanagiri and Baba Bundagiri. In these areas, the roads will take your heart away. I feel that every rider will love these roads situated in the clouds. There was one unfortunate incident though (not an accident fortunately). Sunny was riding the Apached and Sanjib was my pillion. Sunny went straight to Baba Bundagiri and we went straight to Mulayanagiri. Without network, it was a bit frustrating and I had to turn back midway. I was a little angry at that time.

Sunny joined us at the hotel and we had lunch at 4 PM due to this misunderstanding of route selection. But avoiding any bad feelings, we decided to go to Ayana Kere. It is a lake around 22 km from Chikmagaluru city. It is worth a visit because the beauty of the place is mesmerising. The route to this lake also feels like you have come to some pre-urbanization era. Since it was growing colder outside, we returned to the room after sightseeing.

Next day, 7th of July, we had a lot of distance to cover. Complete our half-sightseeing and return to Bangalore. So, we started our journey by filling up the tanks and checking the tyre pressure. So we started our journey and while our bike's had no rain mode, God's rain mode was on as it was pouring. We started our return journey from Chikmagaluru and reached Hassan by 5. After a heavy lunch, we hit the highways and man, this was one of our best highway rides. Just cruising along with not a worry in the world. We reached Bangalore by 9:30 and this one sweet trip was completed.

But I believe that there's a lot left in Chikmagaluru still, and I will go to that place once more in the near future.

Ride well and always wear a helmet.

    Thanks,
    Vivek.

    Thread approved.
That's a beautiful place and those are some nice clicks. While riding in the rain is a bit of a task, the beauty of these places really come alive when it rains.
Keep up the good work, brother, and thank you for sharing this travelogue with us.
    Keep riding and ride safe.
